I thought this episode was a lot stronger than the pilot, which made me happy -- the parts fit together better, more of a story and less explanation, even the annoying bitchy girls were gone!

I still like the mix they have on Joan -- likable some of the time, and annoying as fuck others. Not-doing-weed Boy was adorable, I still like the supporting cast, and I thought the cop parts (though still not as interesting) worked much better. (Although it might not be a good sign if you need God to come in and explain everything for me to get it. Maybe that's just me.)

Also, I laughed very very hard at the anti-climactic exchange. Because I am easy.

Hee. Against the weather!

I'm watching too, and I'm enjoying it enough to keep watching. I'd much rather see more of bitchy anti-establishment butch!girl and adorable not-on-pot!boy than the annoying!twins of last week. I hope that's a permanent change.

Oh, me too! I'm thinking the annoying girls are gone for good, because otherwise they wouldn't have done that "Joan has no friends" thing, but it's hard to tell if the other two are going to be recurring. But yeah, I hope so.

I caught it randomly this week - I borrowed a cable from one of my housemates to do my watching commercials homework and it was on, so yay. I didn't like it soso much, but that's what I expected. I liked the message it gave - small things affecting larger things - and I loved Grace and Adam.

I wish I had seen the first episode. I was slow on the uptake figuring out why there were the fire scenes, until I realized that it was her father there. His scenes don't seem to gel so well with everyone else's.

And I love that the mom works at the school and the kids resent it. It's done so much better than Certain Other Shows With Family Working At Schools Randomassly (even though they have no credentials and make CRAPASS counselors), and it may or may not be something that's happened in my life. (:

The random father scenes didn't make much more sense in the pilot, either. Less, actually. They've gotten better.

Hee. Identify much?

(laugh) And the best part is that *she* had no credentials and was just as crapass of a counselor as one Mlle Summers! Great times.
