It's a day later, but I hope you all (American you all, at least) had a lovely Thanksgiving. Mine was surprisingly lovely all around, if not particularly interesting to recount.

Last night, when I was having trouble falling asleep, I was thinking about [livejournal.com profile] crack_van and what stories I would rec if I were doing Smallville, and I started making a list in my head of the ones that started all the controversy and discussions -- stories where everyone and their dog needed an lj/blog post or mailing list post, often including kerfuffles. I came up with [livejournal.com profile] koimistress's Mercy, [livejournal.com profile] seperis's Handful of Dust, and [livejournal.com profile] rosenho's Bradbury story, and then perhaps Immortality or [livejournal.com profile] thete1's Vision Thing series.

And of course then it struck me that *all* of these stories were pre-Season 2. I mean, what's up with that? How are we supposed to keep our reputation as the evil bitches this way? Is the fandom getting, like, mellow as it ages?

Very strange.

And then I fell asleep and had a bizarre dream where [livejournal.com profile] thete1 was giving me Thanksgiving not-gaining-weight tips. Apparently the secrets are no mayonnaise on the turkey and no whipped topping on the pie.

I don't know hardly anybody who actually likes turkey, yo. But it's *tradition*.

And, yeah, the mayonnaise thing was one of the reasons it was so strange.

Heh. Yeah, and one turkey can feed, like, ten people. But turkey is...dry and kinda bland. My mom and I usually do duck nowadays.
