slodicons, natch.
I got to go out and see
carmarthen today, which was lovely; it had been much too long. We saw Peter Pan, which I think we both muchly enjoyed, spent too much money at Powell's, and hung out at
liviapenn's apartment for a little bit, where I showed her unconnected random bits of Due South to try and show her why Callum Keith Rennie is my lust object. She thinks Diefenbaker is pretty.
My sister and I finished watching the Fellowship of the Ring cast commentary last night (I'd never seen it before). By the end, I was left with two main impressions, which were
a) hobbbbbits! eee! *vague gesture*
and
b) oh my god, just SHUT UP, Orlando Bloom, shut up! Tool.
Anyway. More yuletide stories I have been enjoying :
The One Thing More Ridiculous Than a Merry Christmas (A Christmas Carol, for Franzi) -- Surprising and surprisingly successful, somehow. Very neat.
Unspoken (the Bible, for Niamh McNamara) -- Judas fic. It might actually be affecting me more strongly than it normally would since I just watched Jesus Christ Superstar with the sister, as well. But I think it's mainly the quality of the story, man.
Confiteor (Boondock Saints, for Yochan) -- When I was reading this, it had it listed as having no comments, which shocked me, because it's well-written, with a lovely language and tone. But apparently the comments were just hiding, which is a relief.
Planetfall (Firefly, for inalasahl) -- This is a nice surprise, a pairing I didn't know I wanted and didn't know could work so well. Lovely writing.
It Came Upon a Midnight Clear (Good Omens, for dex webster) -- This may actually be my favorite yet, yo. If not, definitely my favorite Christmas fanfiction story. Hee.
The Galactic Miscellany (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, for Daegaer) -- Hitchhiker's Guide fic done well, with all the wittiness, fun and style that implies.
Leda, Mary and the Rest (Joan of Arcadia, for Haisley) -- Joan of Arcadia fic, yay! And Grace, no less, coming through clearly. The story's strange and has an almost incomplete feeling, but it stays with you.
Alike in Ignorance (Sandman, for holographis) -- Another one that's lovely and strange; I can't tell exactly what I feel and think on finishing it, other than I enjoyed reading it, the richness of the characters and language.

27/12/03 23:00 (UTC)I also spent too much money at Powell's today, but then I was buying my books for class so it was less fun. I always want to buy myself a present after I've spent so much on books (last time I tried to buy Tommy's Tale and the person I bought it from severely fucked up), but my father's computer is mean and doesn't like paypal, which means no nice distros for me.
And that is my rambling about things you care little about. Hope you're well!!

28/12/03 15:16 (UTC)Granted, Diefenbaker is pretty, but if you could get Livia's attention back to DS, man, there would be dancing in the fucking streets here in my neck of the woods. (And she should understand perfectly well why CKR is a lustobject--she wrote how many DS stories?)
