So, between the amazon.com gift certificate and the Powell's trip, I've bought quite a few things the past few days.

Newly bought stuff o' mine:

+ Shadow of Albion by Andre Norton and Rosemary Edghill -- Because it looks like meaty alternate history fantasy fun, and I'm easy.

+ Weird and Tragic Shores by Chauncey Loomis -- I think I mentioned my big Arctic/Antarctic button before; it's one of those subjects that's endlessly fascinating for me. There's also the bonus of the tiny dorky thrill I get from mentions of Franklin expedition, because it makes me think of Fraser/Kowalski. Yeah, I know, shut up.

+ The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett -- Discworld, yay! That I haven't read, no less.

+ Her Majesty, the Decemberists -- which, on one listen so far, I have to label 'bizarre'. I think good bizarre, though. I need to listen to it some more to figure what the heck to think of it. Although it does get point for having people listed for contributing 'hand claps' and 'blood-curling scream'. It was once my life ambition to be credited for hand claps on an indie rock record, but then I realized I couldn't stay on beat if my life depended on it.

+ Dig Me Out, Sleater-Kinney -- because I lost my old copy, and it was a great tragedy

+ Wayne's World -- I don't think an explanation is needed.

Along with the amazon package today, I got a Christmas card from [livejournal.com profile] welvilly, which was very sweet and cute and made me one of those strange combinations of happy and melancholy, just reminding me about all the stuff I miss now. Rebecca and Cait and wacky hijinks and SRC and ... yeah. Once in a while I want to forget being grown up and moving on and thinking about the good things and just want to wallow in what's gone.

Man, though. I'm starting to get kind of nervous about Evergreen. Excited, yes, but! Only a week! Eeep. I find the fact that [livejournal.com profile] sprkid will be right there (the same dorm, even!) more comforting than I expected.

Tomorrow I go and get to meet [livejournal.com profile] dammitcarl. Whee!

Do I need to ask if you've seen Ghosts of Albion (http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/tamaraswift/index.shtml)?

Mmm, Terry Pratchett. I'm reading Good Omens again, at the moment.

Have you left yet? You come tomorrow, right? Remind me, please, what room you're in and I can stop by at some point. Currently, there is no heat - so keep your blankets toward the top of your packing, if possible.

Cold cold.
