Over the last couple days, I finished Stiff and The Princess Diaries, and then read the first few hundred pages of Mother Nature. Yesterday evening I began the third volume of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, which like the previous books I am finding pleasantly engrossing entertainment -- though I have to admit that there is *one* minor distraction so far.

There's a section early in the novel where the point of view switches to a man who refers to the male lead pretty consistently by his last name. Given that the male lead's last name is Fraser, I think you can see where my head jumps out of the book for a bit.

I have to say, though, it's kind of entertaining to try and imagine Fraser in an eighteenth century Scottish prison.

Ok, first off? YAY! For reading Voyager! That's my absolute favorite of all the books. I swear, I thinmk I have sections of it freaking memorized *g*

It's funny though, I haven't done a serious reread of them since I got so heavily into slash and DS and can definitely see how seeing Fraser in regard to Jamie and not Benton could be...disconcerting, lol. Though you're right. Fraser...in a kilt...or Fraser, dirty and in prison and then playing chess with Lord John...

Actually, now that I think of it, give Ben Fraser a mustache and he could play quite a good Jack Randall.

Oh, but I love the little prison romance. It's like Oz! Only old! And with kilts. I've had a giant crush on Lord John since forever.

You know, I was just being vaguely entertained, but man, you make it sounds so *pretty*.

Mmmm, Fraser...

(Although the Jack Randall thing is freaking me out a little. I was pictured him quite a bit leaner than Fraser, though.)

Eee! Princess Diaries!

Did you like it? Are you going to write me fic? Are you going to read the rest of the books so that I can squee over Michael with you?

*wishes she still had the kidlit femslash icon*

Eeee! Jamie! I haven't reread those since I got into DS, and I don't imagine it'll be too huge a problem - I've got Jamie very clear in my mind. OTOH, just watching Pros is starting to get my "Ray" wires crossed, so you never know...

I did enjoy it! And I do plan to read more of the books -- I kind of feel I have to, just because it doesn't really feel like an ending so much as a story spilt into booksized pieces.

Although, does she get any better with the "giving clues to the audience without making Mia look like a retard" thing?

Heh, yes. My "Fraser" switch is very clearly set to Benton, I find. Of course, it's only an issue at all for like 100 pages of the book.

(Although the whole repeated thing about "stubborn Frasers" has added cuteness, too, I guess.)
