schmerica: (books)

Over the last couple days, I finished Stiff and The Princess Diaries, and then read the first few hundred pages of Mother Nature. Yesterday evening I began the third volume of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, which like the previous books I am finding pleasantly engrossing entertainment -- though I have to admit that there is *one* minor distraction so far.

There's a section early in the novel where the point of view switches to a man who refers to the male lead pretty consistently by his last name. Given that the male lead's last name is Fraser, I think you can see where my head jumps out of the book for a bit.

I have to say, though, it's kind of entertaining to try and imagine Fraser in an eighteenth century Scottish prison.

I did enjoy it! And I do plan to read more of the books -- I kind of feel I have to, just because it doesn't really feel like an ending so much as a story spilt into booksized pieces.

Although, does she get any better with the "giving clues to the audience without making Mia look like a retard" thing?
