schmericaThe results of my poll about how well one must know canon to write fic are turning out quite interesting, especially if you read the comments that have been left. (I will answer them, eventually; I'm just feeling particularly brain dead today.)
Reading this week: first The Mummy Case, by Elizabeth Peters -- it's the third Amelia Peabody books, but it's only my second, because my library system does not appear to have The Curse of the Pharoahs. Still much much enjoyment here (although, really, Ramses does begin to grate after a while).
And then this morning I finished the last story in Ted Chiang's Stories of Your Life and Others, which, just, wow. Really, really excellent collection. I'm definitely going to need to reread eventually, too, I think.
Goal for the rest of the day: Write something. Anything, really.
