more olympics

So I was reading one of the columns in the Oregonian the other day about the TV coverage of the Olympics the first day or two, and it was all "Olympics are cool! But swimming is a stupid boring sport, whereas beach volleyball is the shit! And Bob Costas is the dryly witty and intelligent man!"

And I was all, "Oregonian column writer dude, you are on crack."

In other Olympics news, my sister and I continue to be strangely obsessive and weird about it, even if I had to skip and miss tons of it tonight (damn having to get up early, and being so very very weak). Gymnnastics, <3! Swimming, yay! They even showed women's fencing highlights (and dude, that American chick is from the town where I work).

The very very beginning of the Olympics theme is creepily reminiscient of the George of the Jungle theme song.

My boytoy and I had a disagreement last night, in which I insisted Beach Volleyball is not sport, it is voyeurism. He was defending his right to ogle rather vehemently, but finally shut the fuck up when the men's swimming started and I began to yell "Yeah, Michael, drop them trunks lower, baybee!"

I think the point was made.

I don't get the bikini thing, really. Is that really so convenient when you're diving into the sand so much?

I asked the same thing, "Why don't they wear one-piece costumes, like the other members of the USA team?" My query was met with disdainful silence.

Me, I say make the men compete nude, like in ancient Greece.
