my philosophy, part #982
7/9/04 09:42Something you may or may not know about my personal and official worldview:
There are very, very few things funnier in movies than horrible things happening just off-screen. The humor seems to increase in direct proportion to how little attention the character *on-screen* actually pay attention to it.
Seriously. Three people on-screen, one wanders off while the other two talk, and then a loud crash or "OW!" or something that those two ignore completely? I'm giggling like a loon for *ages*.
It doesn't transfer as well to text, unfortunately.
In other news, I want Shrek 2 to come out on DVD so I can obtain an icon of tiny little mutant babies. Then, I think, my life may be complete.

Cutest things EVER.
Personally, I feel people getting hit by a bus is the funniest horrble thing possible. But funny things off-screen come damn close. Especially if they're ignored. Ooh, or if they're overly discussed but never shown.
Or if they're hit by a bus.

7/9/04 11:46 (UTC)You know what would be AWESOME? Would be seeing someone *about* to get hit by a bus, and then *that* only happening offscreen, and the other characters ignoring it.
*giggles to self*
Other comic gold in Erica-land: llamas, monkeys, and insult comebacks like "Yeah? Well ... you suck/you're stupid!"
