more class stuff, yes

schmericaFirst day of classes went well -- but then, I'm very fond of syllabuses in general.
Doing some of the reading for next seminar this evening, I discovered I am apparently madly in love with one of our books -- Medieval Russia: a Sourcebook, 850-1700 -- because oh my *god*, coolest thing ever. Primary Chronicle, wheee!
In the little introductory lecture in class today, every time we mentioned the steppe I thought of![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
barbarian_qulan and every time we mentioned Central Asian bits of the former empire I thought of linabean. I wonder if that will continue through the quarter.
Tomorrow: first day of language portion, yay! With a crazy new alphabet to learn, hmm.
