Grocery shopping today, yay! Much less ridiculous than last time I went, but I'm still kind of concerned about how much I'm spending. I really need to figure something out there, because money is ... a concern.

I was made sad by Safeway apparently no longer carrying the one product I thought was absolutely brilliant, i.e. individual garlic cloves. Last time I went with sprkid, we each picked up a bag -- they were fresh, already peeled, vacuum-sealed in smaller things of four cloves each within the bag. They were more expensive than just buying garlic, obviously, but not really by that much, and they lasted me a good long time. Normally I think these time saving things are kind of stupid and wasteful -- pre-shredded cheese, for example, combines the three joys of being a) expensive b) tasting gross and c) going moldy and bad way too quickly -- but this one was GREAT. But it's no longer there by the tofu, so back to peeling my own. Mmm, sticky stinky fingers.

On a completely different note, I am now about 95% sure I will not be going to Escapade in 2005. There is a very very low chance I may be out in the East Coast in the spring and crash with fox1013 and maybe get up to New York for a day, but this pretty much depends on money situation. We'll see how my birthday and Christmas go.

Next two months: birthday, my last days at Evergreen (and all the papers and finals and evals that go with that), yuletide, ds_seekritsanta, fox1013's birthday, Thanksgiving at home. Hmmmm. Interesting.

Dude, if you come visit me, people will come here to visit you. They so totally promised. And I have room for you, and there are tons of Philly-based fans, and you could spend days just pimping Due South to me and I would watch all of it, and you could watch Mean Girls, and it would really not be that expensive, overall, except for the plane ride, and if you do it on an off-season thingy you could TOTALLY get really cheap plane fare.


Also, I love that your birthday and my birthday are two of the most important things on your list. Because my list is pretty much the same as yours, if you replace "last days at Evergreen" with "end of this semester" and "ds_seekritsanta" with "I think I'm probably doing Buffyverse Secret Slasha".

uhh, i guess i never told you that my garlics went moldy. within less than two weeks. in the fridge. in the vacuum seeled pacs. i got to use a total of eight cloves. i am fucking pissed off and they aren't doing anything about it. i didn't call safeway, but i'm glad they're gone.

i'm sorry i'm bitchybitch at the moment.

Well, if my garlic had went moldy, I would be bitchybitch too, because that really, really sucks a lot.

Although! Did I tell you that my last loaf of bread totally went moldy last week before I got a chance to eat most of it? I have decided the thing to do now is just not let any bread into my room. Ever.

The kitchen store I love to browse in has this rubber tube thingy for peeling garlic. I saw it demonstrated onse, and it works. No need to touch the stunky cloves:

I just buy those prepackaged frozen galic puree cubes from Trader Joe's. I can pop one of those suckers into soup or a stirfry without touching the garlic.
