RUSSIAN <3 <3 <3.

([livejournal.com profile] lyra_sena is not online, so I feel okay about using those fake hearts with abandon. Woot! I run wild!)

This week we started learning verbs. And new cases! And apparently now adverbs as well!

Conjugations and declensions and eeeeeee! Seriously, you should not underestimate my geekiness here. I am incredibly damn excited.

I really do need to get a phone post some time, just to show off to you all me trying to say "Hi, my name is Erica!" and "I live in America!" and "That's my window!" and "What are you doing?" If I knew how to do the transliteration or type in Cyrillic I would show off anyway, but alas.

WHEE, Russian. *sighs happily* Now for an afternoon of Russian workbook, season two Buffy and Coca-Cola. Life is good.

*would never underestimate your geekiness*

I LOVE language. As a Latin and Greek teacher I can totally understand being excited about new cases. Just wait until you get whole new tenses and moods. Oh, and voices! *grins*

You can always use character map to insert cyrillic characters, though that can be tedious. Windows will let you change your keyboard layout. Read more about it here (http://zsigri.tripod.com/fontboard/cyrinst.html).

If you have a Mac there are also ways...I just don't know them.

hee hee! I took a year of Russian in high school and now the only sentences I remember how to say are "I don't understand Russian," "Your brother is a hedgehog," and "where are the nuclear vessels?" :)

There's a really, really fun website called "Free Online Translation at http://translation.paralink.com/ that I used when I wrote my Man From UNCLE epic to translate between english and russian.

Heh. But the showing off aspect gets kind of knocked down when I have to translate it from English on the internet to be able to show people, doesn't it? Still, that is nifty.

Я изучала в Джорджа Вашингтона (http://www.gwu.edu).

Hi! I was wondering around ppl's ljs and found yours. I saw that you already figured out how to use cyrillic, but here is also a good website: http://translit.ru/
You just type stuff in english letters and it will give out stuff in Russian:
like you type "Privet" and it converts it into "Привет".
By the way, меня зовут Таня. Я из России, но я учусь в Америке в Бард колледже :)
