Am now caught up on Veronica Mars through "Mars vs. Mars". Which episode, I have to say, Logan's mom's storyline is really boring. Logan, I love you so much more when you are being an asshole than when you are being weepy.

Also, Veronica, I love you, but I'm totally judging you for automatically going the "Trampy Slut Girl trying to ruin Fine Upstanding Teacher Man!" route from the beginning. Especially since teacher man was kind of creepy. (Although I did love the line about his daughter's megalomania and reactionary politics.)

And, oh, Duncan. Keraaaaaaazy. And not like a fox. More like a really crazy person.

Well, I don't think it was the slut portion so much as the lying rumorwhore that made Veronica not believe her. Even though TSG may well have been right that Duncan was sent to an ER for seizures, no trusted authority told her that Duncan was crazy because of Veronica. She made that shit up. And that would be why Veronica was all, "I don't believe you, TSG, you are a liar!"

Actually, he was sent to the hospital because he kept hysterically screaming Veronica's name, so it was a fair assumption to make that he was crazy because of Veronica. I mean, TSG could have been lying about that, but since his medication makes him have violent emotional fits, she was probably teling the truth.

But it's still a leap to say that someone hysterically screaming someone else's name, particularly if they're the sort of hysterical where they have to be put down by orderlies, is crazy because of that person. More likely, they're just crazy and fixated on the person whose name they are screaming.

Yes, its a leap. But TSG was obviously biased towards Duncan, and thought he was a great catch and a good guy, and thought that Veronica didn't deserve him and all that jazz. She seemed to be taking the position of "what did that bitch DO to him?" rather than, "wow, is that guy crazy." And since at that point in time Duncan was behaving non-crazily in school and also avoiding Veronica, TSG probably thought that a) he wasn't really crazy, he just freaked out at something Veronica did to him, and b) he's pissed at Veronica for something she did to him. Yes, bitchy and catty and theorizing-without-knowing-all-the-facts, but she was working off a solid base, not just making shit up.

Of course, I saw the episode a week ago, so I could be mis-remembering things, but thats the way I saw it, and Veronica seemed to see it that way, too, by the end of the episode. Didn't she even VO something like, "okay, maybe she isn't lying about everything" when she looked up the info on Duncan's medication?
