schmerica: (keira knightley)

It's been eighteen hours since I posted the music guessing meme, which I figure is enough time for people to get their guesses in, if they're going to do it. Apparently I am incredibly hard to guess, though, because only one of the songs was identified ([livejournal.com profile] minervacat got the Old 97's). I'm not sure if the reason behind this is because I know little about music and rarely talk about it to you all, or if I'm just wonderfully unpredictable.

Sleater-Kinney, "Oh!"
Old 97's, "Question"
Rilo Kiley, "A Better Son/Daughter"
Magnetic Fields, "100,000 Fireflies"
Iron & Wine, "Lion's Mane"
Johnny Cash, "Man in Black"
Jill Sobule, "Bitter" OR "Resistance Song"
New Pornographers, "Testament of Youth in Verse"
David Bowie, "Rebel Rebel"
Weezer, "The Good Life"

[livejournal.com profile] doyle_sb4 posted another meme with the same basic structure, only fandom-y. In marked contrast to the above, I expect this one to be really freaking easy.

1. List your favourite shows
2. People guess what your favourite 'ship is from each
3. strikethough the correctly guessed with a sentence about why they're your favourite

I'm going ahead and including shows I haven't watched or liked in a long time, but which I was fannish about at one point.

1. due South, Fraser/Kowalski. I'm not sure what to say in this sentence, since, you know, eighty percent of my journal is pretty much a lovesong to this pairing, it seems like. They're pretty and they're snarky and they're gay for each other and they click, but it's never easy; they're both completely flawed and damaged but their flaws and damages complement each other somehow. There are a million different things I love about this pairing, really, and a ton of them contradict each other.
2. Firefly, Simon/River. Two people who have a connection nobody else can come close to, who have to rely completely on each other for survival, one of whom has given up their entire life for the other -- that's always going to fascinate me, and the fact that it's icky and wrong doesn't make any of the non-sibling-y subtext any less interesting.
3. Veronica Mars
4. House, House/Wilson. This isn't a fandom where I've immediately glomped onto a pairing, but there is definitely the most interesting of the choices; I don't care so much about Wilson, but he brings out the most interesting sides of House.
5. Sports Night, Jeremy/Natalie. They are so fucking adorable it kills me, and the fact that they got back to together at the end of the series made everything right in my world.
6. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
7. Twitch City
8. Joan of Arcadia, Luke/Grace. They have a dating contract and confidentiality arrangement! And she rips it up as his present! And she's all prickly but they really care about each other a lot! *sap(
9. Everwood
10. Smallville, Clark/Lex. AKA the pairing that got me into fandom. Heh. First season Smallville was pretty much all the Clark/Lex Show, all the time, and it was completely fascinating watching their bizarrely intimate connection and running with it.

Yes on JoA. <3333. (I am using these with abandon since Lyra is gone. HA.)

No on Twitch City, though. I use my icon helpfully!
