I can't concentrate on any one thing, it seems. Instead I seem to be producing lots of little teeny tiny paragraphs. Snapshots, I suppose.

Ray is eating a sno-cone. His tongue and the corners of his mouth have both turned blue from the colored syrup he chose. Fraser suspects that if he were to kiss Ray right now, his mouth would be cool and slick, and he would taste of little else but sugar and fruits never found in nature.

Frannie's never been with a girl before, and for a minute on the way to Maggie's hotel she thinks maybe it's just a confusion thing, like conditioning or something. Maybe she just knew Fraser so long that the sight of a dress uniform and the sound of a "Thank you kindly" makes her think of him now. It makes a lot of sense, and Frannie's half-convinced that's what going on, and she'll just have to apologize to Maggie and leave real quick -- except now Maggie's red tunic's gone, anyway, and in all of Frannie's dreams about kissing Fraser, there were never breasts involved, never all these soft curves and long hair under her hands, and when Maggie slides her hands up Frannie's thighs and pulls her down to the bed, Frannie thinks maybe she's not so confused after all.

Emily's in the kitchen, looking for the check her mother left to give Duck for the paint job, when she hears Mackenzie open her stupid mouth out by the counter.
"So are you really gay?" Mackenzie says, loud, and Emily winces at the grill.
"Excuse me?" Duck says.
"Gay," Mackenzie says impatiently. "What's that like?"
Emily finds the check, which her mom apparently decided to stick in the back cabinet, and darts back out front as fast as she can.
"What's it *like*?" Duck is looking at Mackenzie like she's a bug. "I guess nothing compares to knowing your personal life is everyone's business, if that's what you mean."
Emily clears her throat and hands the check over silently. Duck glances at her and says "Thanks, Emily" without smiling, and then he leaves.
Mackenzie watches him go, looking curious. Emily kind of wants to smack her.
"My cousin Liz works at the hospital," Mackenzie says, "and she said he came in to visit the Jarvis guy everyday. Bringing him flowers and holding hands and shit."
"Mackenzie," Emily says, "*shut up*."
Mackenzie looks back over at her, frowning. "What's your problem?"
"Just -- don't talk about him, okay?"
Mackenzie shrugs. "Whatever," she says, and she looks back down at her algebra book.

I pin Ray to the wall, as soon as the door is closed behind us. Ray's face is a knowing smirk, and he has enough leeway to thrust his hips forward against me, once, letting me feel his eagerness and want.
He turns his head, rubbing his stubble against my face, murmuring into my ear. "You wanna suck me." It is not a question.
For a moment I don't say anything, don't move, considering my options.
There is a strange satisfaction in sinking to my knees, to seeing that expression of Ray's turn, slowly, from smug to impressed to finally, finally, nothing but desire.

It's raining outside, pouring down, the wind rushing through the tree branches outside. It's cool in the bedroom because they both forgot to shut one of the windows on the far side of the room, but Ray won't let Fraser get up to fix it. It's warm under all their blankets, and he's got other plans for Fraser. There's something about these Canadian storms that make him want to get fucked, make him want to feel Fraser over him and in him and all around, feel Fraser's muscles working, hear all Fraser's quiet noises -- Fraser all strong and wild and crazed with it, Ray's own fucking personal Canadian force of nature.
He can make Fraser go fix the window afterwards.
