Poll! For the small but significant portion of my flist who have shipped both Clark/Lex (Smallville) and Fraser/Kowalski (due South) at some point in their fannish lives.

Meanwhile, I shall continue to try and convince myself that being sleepy and bored isn't a good reason to take a nap. No, really.

I will now proceed to use my Smallville icon which I keep around solely for the twice a year I might use it. (Actually, I mostly keep it around so I have something appropriate for all my old lj entries that have "smallville" as the icon keyword. Because even if I don't love them anymore, they deserve better than random default-of-the-moment, dammit!)

i answered the poll (fraser, lex), though I don't know if I count....but I've read most if not all of your stories about them, and they're the fellows I enjoy the most. especially fraser's courtliness as opposed to ray's rough edges, and lex's experience as opposed to clark's innocence. (to that end- wouldn't it be awesome to see fraser break down - like, REALLY break down, and lose all of his gentlemanliness, and maybe start throwing things or something, and have ray hold it all together? or to have clark be, inexplicably, more experience than Lex? like maybe he'd learned something in the football locker room or something, and lex had never been able to reach out to anyone enough to take his clothes off with them?)

I checked Ray K., but I have to say as far as dS goes, it's a tossup between him and Fraser. Ray, Fraser and Lex. I can't think of any circumstances under which they could convincingly have a threesome, but it would be hot like a hot thing.

I remember having the discussion with someone last year about trying to imagine dS crossovers, and how we could if we really stretched our brains, figure out Ray/Clark, Fraser/Lex, or Fraser/Clark -- but there was absolutely no way we could figure out a way to make Ray and Lex have sex. Or even be in the same room without Ray getting pissed off and Lex being evil.

I don't really want to choose y'know. My Lex/Clark love is at about 60/40 and my Ray/Fraser is about 55/45. So very close. It hurt to have to decide one way or another.

*grins* I had this hypothesis that Lex-and-Ray would be the most popular, but Fraser-and-Clark would still be more popular than either of the others. I think I was underestimating the antipathy a lot of people have to Clark, though.

That's part of what I loved about Clark, though! Of course, I stopped watching end of s2, so I choose keep them both in my mind in perfect s1 form and ignore everything else.

This was very hard, as I don't really have favorites in either pairing. I love them all equally! But, I went with Fraser and Clark because I'm six thousand times more likely to squeal "Fraser!" than "Ray!" But that's partly just because Fraser's a big dorky freak. As is Clark.

On the other hand, I prefer to write from Ray's pov, and I love *looking* at Lex (i.e. writing from POVs that get to look at Lex) and he's more exciting on the show itself, except I'm more likely to write stories that focus on Clark.

And you can't get rid of that icon. It's key.

Hmm, I misread it, I think. I picked the pairing I'd rather read. Ben and Lex would have some wonderful moements in which they compare their partners to their former/unrequited lovers.

Benton Fraser and Clark Kent's individual journeys are the most fully explored in canon, so I'd pick them going by canon. Judging on the fanfic I've read thus far, fanfic, I'd pick Lex and RayK.

I picked Fraser and Lex, but - it's tough for me to choose between Fraser and Ray, because for me they are both interesting, and they are most interesting in - well, if I say the places where their electron clouds rub against each other, do I sound crazy?

Ah. I see that I do. Also, it makes no sense, so maybe I should try that again.

The interactions between Fraser and Ray - the places where they don't quite fit, the sharp and brittle edges, the places where they fit almost too well - add a lot of interest to both characters, and I find them interesting to start with. Made it difficult to choose one. I ended up going with Fraser because I have a more convincing Fraser voice in writing, and it's easier for me to understand what Fraser is thinking and feeling and (not exactly) saying. But I could argue that Kowalski is actually more interesting, for just exactly that reason.

Basically, this comment is here to say I'm pretty firm on Lex being more interesting than Clark (although, again, they're both more interesting when they're interacting with each other - that may the definition of OTP or slash pairing or something, now I think on it), but it was a tossup between Ray and Fraser, so feel free to count me in the other camp if it serves your nefarious and twisted purposes.

Oh, my nefarious and twisted purposes failed very shortly into the poll -- my hypothesis turned out to be stunnningly inaccurate, so now I'm just looking and going "Huh! Interesting!"
