Why must people continue to insist on maintaining their own tastes and preferences? This would all be SO MUCH SIMPLER if you all would just learn to like exactly the same things as me!!! (And write lots and lots and lots of it, but that part goes without saying, right?)

I am bored and find myself playing [livejournal.com profile] china_shop's game of trying to turn all the DVDs on my shelves into Fraser/Kowalski stories. However, of the movies on my shelves, I find Mallrats, Wayne's World, Heathers or Lilo and Stitch inadequate to the task. (Although the latter does bring up cute images. Um.)

So then I started to play it with The Lady Eve, but then I ran into the trouble that I haven't actually seen that movie in like five years. Bah.

P.S. Fraser/Kowalski is totally based upon a solid and unshaky foundation.

P.P.S. Frannie/RayK totally has a sensible and logical canonical basis.

P.P.P.S. PORN.

P.P.P.P.S. Tell me more about Dan Jarvis, people. *sad face*

Salient fact about Dan Jarvis: He is a fanboy. A Westerns fanboy, true, but whatever. He has the lack of social skills, and the outsiderhood, and the lack of marked success at conventional relationships, and -- he runs a video store for godsake! He is One Of Us. In an alternate universe, he's probably writing Deadwood slash.

You know, Kat, sometimes I strongly suspect you are the Coolest Person in the History of Ever. This is one of those times.

*grin/smootch* Hey, but now this idea I tossed out below is gnawing at my brain. Because Brokeback Mountain is also all about living the double life, and the terrible costs thereof, and the inability to follow one's heart, and I think it would make Dan terribly terribly sad, and then Duck would have to take him home and convince him life doesn't have to be like that. And that next year they will have a parade. *g*

You are writing story ideas with happy endings in my comments! I may melt with joy!

I think "hopefulness" is by far the best word for Dan/Duck.

Or, hell, in this one.

Right this moment.

Writing Duck as the Marty Stu riding into town on a clever pinto and flirting with the stonefaced sheriff.

Duck is flattered, but points out that he could never wear chaps with a straight face. Dan tells him to stop killing the fantasy.

I'm sure exactly why that's so freaking cute, but it really kind of is.

Dan writes him into a drinking contest with Jane and Duck says that really, he's not much of a drinker, and he's very much not comfortable calling a woman a cunt.

Dan asks him what kind of cowboy he is, anyway. Duck says more of the kitten-rescuing type. Dan claims to have never been less attracted to him, but a few minutes later climbs into his lap and there are smooches.
