Actually, all I remember about people's reactions to the premiere was bizarre John/Rodney squee. Also, I feel as though I should have been warned not to touch the show six months in advance, just on the offchance of this possibility.

Heh. Yeah, after Siege III I was all, "John/Rodney who now?" I mean, I like the pairing, don't get me wrong, but the Sheppard/Weir was kind of smacking me in the face.
