Okay, so, people, what's the most different versions you have of any one song in your music collections?

My iTunes appears to contain four different versions of "Wonderwall" (um, two of which I cannot remember ever hearing), and three each of "Landslide" (Stevie Nicks, Dixie Chicks, Smashing Pumpkins), "100,000 Fireflies" (Magnetic Fields, Built to Spill, Superchunk), "Starman" (David Bowie, Dar Williams, Mates of State), "Real Wild Child" (Iggy Pop, Joan Jett, Josie & the Pussycats), "Such Great Heights" (Postal Service, Iron & Wine, Rilo Kiley), and "Rainbow Connection" (Muppets, Willie Nelson, Sarah McLachlan). This seems to confirm that my music collection is possibly somewhat random.

I have five different versions of "Hallelujah" in WinAmp (Allison Crowe, k. d. lang, K's Choice, Kathryn Williams, and the Leonard Cohen original), plus three lying around on CD somewhere (John Cale, Rupert Wainwright, and Jeff Buckley). I used to have more, but at some point I deleted the truly awful versions from my hard drive.

For a fair price, I will put the Me First & the Gimme Gimmes cover of "Rainbow Connection" on Yousendit for you. The fair price probably being the Willie Nelson version of the same song.

I love the Superchunk version of "100,000 Fireflies."

The Me First version is actually what Fox just put up in the comment above yours, but you can have Willie Nelson for free!

The Jeff Buckey version is actually the only Hallelujah I have at the moment -- I'm sure I had Rufus Wainwright at some point, but I don't know what happened to it.

The original of "100,000 Fireflies" is one of my very favorite songs ever, but the Superchunk version is pretty much awesome, too, especially since it's completely different.

Yay for Willie Nelson! You are the best.

I also have a bizarre Australian jam-band cover of "Movin' Right Along," if you're interested.

Holy crap, Sarah McLachlan did a version of Rainbow Connection? That is awesome.

... probably "Hallelujah" (k.d. lang, Rufus Wainwright, Jeff Buckley, and Allison Crowe).

Yes! I think I got it originally from [livejournal.com profile] musesfool's lj -- possibly her meme on songs that make her cry. Heh.

i have lots of versions of "all along the watchtower" and "how deep is the ocean" and "stagger lee" (although in that case they're often different songs, so not the same thing, and yet still interesting. to me.)

I seem to have five different versions/remixes of "Drive Myself Crazy" by *nsync.... I'm not entirely sure how that happened.

I like covers, but have surprisingly few multiples, probably because of downloading issues. I do have two of "Don't Think Twice" (Bob Dylan, Susan Tedeschi), "Always on My Mind" (Willie Nelson, the Pet Shop Boys), and "When You Were Mine" (Prince, Cyndi Lauper)

I don't have many multiples, but those I do have are great. Without being home to check my iTunes, I can confirm that I have 3 versions of "Personal Jesus" - Depeche Mode, Marilyn Manson, and Johnny Cash.
