la la la covers
17/10/05 16:49Okay, so, people, what's the most different versions you have of any one song in your music collections?
My iTunes appears to contain four different versions of "Wonderwall" (um, two of which I cannot remember ever hearing), and three each of "Landslide" (Stevie Nicks, Dixie Chicks, Smashing Pumpkins), "100,000 Fireflies" (Magnetic Fields, Built to Spill, Superchunk), "Starman" (David Bowie, Dar Williams, Mates of State), "Real Wild Child" (Iggy Pop, Joan Jett, Josie & the Pussycats), "Such Great Heights" (Postal Service, Iron & Wine, Rilo Kiley), and "Rainbow Connection" (Muppets, Willie Nelson, Sarah McLachlan). This seems to confirm that my music collection is possibly somewhat random.

18/10/05 00:18 (UTC)For a fair price, I will put the Me First & the Gimme Gimmes cover of "Rainbow Connection" on Yousendit for you. The fair price probably being the Willie Nelson version of the same song.
I love the Superchunk version of "100,000 Fireflies."

The Jeff Buckey version is actually the only Hallelujah I have at the moment -- I'm sure I had Rufus Wainwright at some point, but I don't know what happened to it.
The original of "100,000 Fireflies" is one of my very favorite songs ever, but the Superchunk version is pretty much awesome, too, especially since it's completely different.
