So I'm stealing this from [livejournal.com profile] hesychasm, because it looks interesting--

Ask me what happens after the end of one of my stories.

Those of you offended by the use of the imperative, feel free to read that as, "If you have any interest in doing so, you are welcome to ask me, etc, etc."

Also, what the heck; if you still want to ask any of my characters from my stories anything, feel free to do that, too.

I have LOTS OF CANDY. I will bring you some? Not Canadian Smarties!

So... what happens at the end of that one story with Ray? And, you know, Fraser?

Yay candy!

The answer to your question is: andthentheydidit.

I have brownies I could bring you in exchange, but first I have to see how they taste now, because I made them last week before the ear infection made it painful to eat.

Ooh! Ooh! This one I get to cheat at, because Dira and I already wrote really unofficial sequel snippets here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/dsudis/213848.html) and here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/pearl_o/517361.html).

Your choice or both:

What happens after the end of Six Point Four Ounces?

or (also from 6.4oz)

Hey, Ray, what happened with you and Fraser on your adventure?

In the morning, at breakfast, Frannie's ma is all annoyed with her and asking lots of questions about where she disappeared to and what hour of the night she got home and all sorts of stuff, and Frannie gets real defensive and tells her that *jeez*, she was just catching up with Ray, *okay*? Then after church she goes back to her room and collects all her secret Fraser stuff -- she didn't have it hanging on the walls anymore, but she'd been saving it just in case -- and she threw it all out, every single bit of it, and it almost felt *good*.

Ray Kowalski comes back to the 27 a couple weeks later. He's weird, different than he used to be, almost like a whole different guy. He's nice, though, in his own way, and he and Frannie are a little closer than before, in their own way -- not good friends, but friendly, she guesses.

What happens to Carrie and her horrible pansy-ass boyfriend?

Hahahahahahaha, HOW SHOCKED AM I that you picked a Carrie question?

This is all Ray knows: in July he and Fraser get themselves on a damn plane to make her happy, and a couple hours later they're across the country, with Carrie hugging them and squealing and yapping nonstop as she drives them to her place. And her place is nice, just like the pictures, and she has a little cat, and she has a nice guest room set up for him and Fraser. Ray doesn't see the guy around anywhere, though, not to mention it is a girly place, and when he asks Carrie where the guy is, she looks surprised and kind of confused and tells him they broke up months ago, didn't she tell him? Which no she did not, of course, which is just another of those reminders that Carrie's life don't got that much to do with her parents anymore.

When Carrie lays awake in bed, staring at her ceiling and wondering why she can't find a man she loves the way her fathers found each other, she only feels foolish and never comes to any conclusions. When her parents visit, she takes them out for a supper with the girls -- but it's not until months later, when she and Tanya are drunk on tequila shooters, watching old Westerns, that Tanya says, "You know, your dads are kinda hot," and Carrie says, "Augh! Don't say things like that! Ew!" and Tanya says grandly, "This is why you can't find a man. You want a man like your daddy, but you got two of them and they're so different. You're never gonna find a man like both daddies, Carrie, so pick one and get laid." Carrie is totally appalled and more than a little grossed out -- and maybe Tanya has a point.

Oh, oh. Okay. What becomes of Simon and River after Ritual?

Outside the next big city, Simon manages to steal some more supplies. Food for the two of them, some clothes, some medicine. He barely makes it out without getting caught. He chops off River's hair by the river and dyes it lighter; she almost looks like a different person, or close enough to make people look twice. It's getting to closer to winter, and he knows they can't survive in the elements much longer -- they get as far out into the boonies as they can and find a village. Nobody trusts outsiders, they're still in danger, but it's something, better than nothing. Simon stole a gun, too, if he needs it to protect her.

Okay, for me, this meme would be BAD and DANGEROUS. Do NOT EVER ask me what happens after the end of one of my stories because you'll end up with hundreds of pages in response.

Or the beginning. Don't ask me what happens before the beginning either!

Hmmmmmm. I haven't talked with Nifra about it, but -- I think Ray goes home, back to his apartment, and goes to sit down and suddenly stops, and looks around, and thinks about how much he hates the place, all dark and cramped, filled with pointless junk. And he goes into his bathroom and looks at himself in the mirror and splashes his face with water, over and over, until he looks less pathetic and more just *mean*. And he goes down to the gym and puts on his boxing gloves and works out, punching and punching and punching, sweating it all out, trying to let his body just take control-- it's the only thing that's ever worked when everything has just gone to shit, and it almost works this time, too. But he can't stay there forever, and when he goes home again, it's like everything has Fraser written all over it. So he puts on music and dances alone around his living room until he's exhausted enough to fall asleep.

There's a message on his answering machine, but he doesn't listen to it until the next morning. Fraser, calling from a Canadian airport payphone, crackling and whistling. He says Ray's name, and then he starts one sentence after another, and doesn't finish any of them, and finally there's thirty seconds of silence before Fraser says "I'm sorry" and hangs up.

I'm with my esteemed co-author on that one, but let me add a little:

Ray's supposed to visit Fraser next, and he buys the ticket, packs the bag, takes the week off from work. He takes a cab to the airport, and he just stands there in front of the blinking board, holding his bag, holding his ticket, and there's this pounding behind his eyes, like a hang over but worse, and his legs feel heavy and he can't move, can't breathe nearly. He stands there, and he stands there, and he stands there, and the plane leaves without him and he goes home. He gets into bed and he doesn't get out for three days except to go to the bathroom and get a cup of tea, just like Fraser likes it, every now and then, even though he likes more sugar, but there's something about the way it tastes going down - bitter and hot - that he needs.

Fraser calls and Fraser calls and Fraser calls again, and then he doesn't and Ray thinks maybe that's it, maybe that's over, maybe now he can have a life without every morning waking up and wishing he was in that tent again, with the snow hard underneath him, and wind whistling over the tent and Fraser's broad back a big shadow from outside hovering over him. He thinks maybe he'll be able to sleep again, maybe he'll be able to breathe again, maybe he won't feel so tired, so old, maybe, maybe...

He thinks maybe he can get over Fraser, seeing as he managed to get over Stella, and then he rolls over and stares at the wall until his eyes water.

**

Two days later, he's parking down the street from his apartment when he sees it, and he thinks that's it, he's finally lost it. He's going crazy, totally fucking crazy, except then he sees it again - a flash of red, a tilt of the head, the long straight stride he's used to seeing, and there's Fraser's face, white and pinched, old like Ray's never seen Fraser look.

Fraser stops in front of Ray's building, looks up at the apartment, and then turns around to face the street. He squares his shoulders, puts his hand behind his back, stands at attention like he's on sentry duty at the Consulate and Ray just sits behind his steering wheel, his breath fogging up the window by his face and stares until his arms are moving, his legs are moving without him and then he's there, standing face to face with Fraser who's eyes slide slowly to his face.

Ray opens his mouth, tries to say something, but he can't think of anything until Fraser's hand, white and shaking, reaches out, touches his glove.

"Ray," Fraser says, "please."

Hahahahaha, man, now I WANNA do Prickling of Snow, because, hi, EASIEST ONE EVER. Since, um, that story is supposed to be like a gen missing scene from the book? So: after the story, Laurie goes and proposes to Jo and she says no and he is upset and then he runs away to Europe where he sits around all day being a lazy good-for-nothing and being bitter and THEN Amy March goes to Europe, too, and meets him, and they hang out together, and then he falls in love with HER and they get married and are adorable and rich and fancy-pants together and lives in a big mansion and are artistic and philanthropic and have a beautiful daughter named Bess. THE END.

(Um, I'll probably come back and do one for you for Academies, too, in a bit. Hee.)
