I very, very rarely feel actual hatred for a character -- as opposed to vague disinterest or just boredom, which are my default reactions to those characters I don't madly adore.

But apparently, when I hate a character? I REALLY REALLY REALLY HATE THEM.

There are only two people who have aroused this level in ire in me lately, and I hate them both SO MUCH it drives me to cursing and talking in all caps and staring at disbelief at my TV screen. I think I need a poll to clear this up, once and for all.

Dude, I read your answer to the text entry and I just feel confused! I have no answer to you! I'm like "...Because he's a dick and I HATE HIM OMG", which is no answer at all, and is actually a tautology. I don't understand how people watch season 5 and don't hate him!

I think Gob Bluth I don't hate so much because he's not the male lead. He's background comic relief, which means easier to ignore.
