...You know, in any other show I read slash in, a scenario where the two guys are flirting and competing for the same woman, I would totally think it was a triangulation scenario and it would just increase the slashiness. But, uh, in SGA? Not so much. John's "He was a guy. I didn't notice." doesn't even come across as weird; it just comes across as ... straight. And Rodney's cute "...I am, actually". Heh. Also nice: John's "oh, come ON!" eye roll when the chick says she'd like to study under Rodney.
Man, it's sad; I WANT to be in the same happy place as all you people! Why on earth is McKay/Sheppard, like, my anti-slash? What the hell?
Although the stargate getting eaten by lava was pretty cool.
Why is John such a jerk? Seriously, I haven't noticed it before, but maybe he might want to think about not responding to people who are coming to save your life like they are spoilsports who just came and interrupted your party. Man, if I was Caudwell, I would kick him in the shins.
"Well then, I guess we're all gonna die."
"Aw, you're doing that on purpose!"
Ahahahahahaha. <3<3<3.
Also, it is kind of sad that I heard "Keep me apprised" as "Give me a prize."
Also also, Ronon rescuring little kiddies in his arms!
...Sometimes when I am watching genre shows and they are put in impossible situation after impossible situation like this, I just want to go "AND THEN THEY ALL DIED THE END. Here is a cartoon for the remaining hour.
Ronon/Teyla, yay.
And there was even Zelenka. Woot!

2/2/06 04:07 (UTC)I've watched that episode three or four times, and every damned time I heard, "Give me a prize," and taken several seconds to puzzle out the real dialogue.
And I hear you! Sheppard and McKay do lots of things that could be considered slashy, but they do not seem slashy to me. I feel like I have my slash goggles on backwards or something.
I blame due South: it's so slashy it broke my goggles.

2/2/06 14:41 (UTC)Now that I don't believe ;) Although I might have to shun you for your lack of McKay/Sheppard love. But you realise, I'll forget I'm shunning you by the time you post next ;)

On the other hand, different strokes (*ahem*) for different folks. I, myself, am squarely (and, apparently, alone) in the "Callum Keith Rennie: I Don't See the Appeal" camp. (Someday, I'm going to do one of those "Unpopular Fannish Opinion" posts and that'll be like #1, 2, and 4. #3 and 5 will be "Sirius, Remus, and/or Sirius/Remus: I Don't Fucking Care, They're Both Losers". I predict I will win many friends that day.)

I actually thought that line seemed strangely deadpan, like he was being deliberately tongue-in-cheek about it. I know I'm probably overanalyzing, but hey! I go with what makes me happy.
