Octavia E. Butler is dead. I've admired her work for a long time; I can think of few other science fiction writers who dealt with feminism and race like her. I think I'll be rereading a lot of her stuff soon.

Oh, that's sad news--I really love her work. I think the Xenogenesis books are my favorites, but, seriously, everything she did was great.
