As first thing on vacation, my sister made me sit down and rewatch the SGA episode "Hot Zone" with her this afternoon. And ... okay. People, I know you all love the guy to the death and/or think he is the hotass, but Sheppard has never been a particularly fascinating character for me, right? But this is the first time I have seen the episode since, like, the very first episodes I watched of the series and wow. I think I actually kind of hate him now.

Did I mention I am home now? Because I am. VACATION WOOOOOOOO.

That episode made me hate Elizabeth, for being a doormat and putting up with John's shit. If it had been me dealing with him? I wouldn't have whined at the end about how he needed to trust meeeee OMG!!!11!! I would have beaten the shit out of him with a two-by-four.

Of course, I also would have shot Bates. In the leg, if he was lucky, but nevertheless ...

Hee, see by the end I was still too distracted by John's whole "WHAT? My actions have consequences? LAME." and thinking the fact HE WANTED TO AND THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA was a LEGITIMATE EXCUSE for that. Um, obviously you thought it was a good idea. That does not make you less an idiot!

Um.

*cough*

Sorry.

Also, Elizabeth doesn't even carry a gun! Man, when the military guys stick together, what are the weaponless people supposed to do?

"WHAT? My actions have consequences? LAME."

*giggles*

He gets points back from me in this episode for taking it so well that Teyla just kicks his ass up and down the block. Also, I think he repents that action later. Because it's an anti-arc show, it's not explicitly stated as motivation, but there's a particular point later where he backs Elizabeth against superior military authority that I think reflects that.

Get a gun. :g: I'd have already had one.

It actually is one of the things that drives me batshit about the show - all of those scientists and other non-military types should have been taught to handle and carry firearms before they were allowed off of Earth.
