It is Sunday afternoon, and thus SUPER BORING AND LAZY. Anyone up for another round of "guessing random lyrics"?

1. She said if you're from Texas, son
Where's your boots and where's your gun

2. Tell you the truth I prefer the worst of you
Too bad you had to have a better half

3. Daddy says I got my mama's mouth
I'm all about a forked tongue and a dirty house

4. Tell you what I'd like to have
You under my thumb like a guitar in my hand

5. Stephen A. Douglas was a great debater
But Abraham Lincoln was the great emancipator

6. Does she ever talk about a place called New Orleans?
Has she ever mentioned a man named Buford Wilson?

7. Cut the protesting, forget the excuses
We want information, get up off the floor

8. Most people looked at him with terror and with fear
But to Moscow chicks he was such a lovely dear

9. This is the story of your gypsy uncle
You never knew 'cause he was dead

10. Hello, America, how are you?
Don't you know me, I'm your native son

11. I still think you're kinda sleazy
But why don't you call when you're in town next time

12. And though I'm always late and I can't stand up straight
I'm sure they'll find me charming in a while

13. Why do we keep shouting when we mean soft things
We should be whispering all the time

14. There are some mornings when the sky looks like a road
There are some dragons who were built to have and hold

15. See the marketplace in old Algiers
Send me photographs and souveniers

I'm pretty sure #9 is the Decemberists, "Red Right Ankle," but if I listen to it again to be sure I will be sucked into emo-ville NEVER TO EMERGE! So it's a guess.

Hey, cool! I actually know a couple of these!

10. Hello, America, how are you?
Don't you know me, I'm your native son

"City of New Orleans" written by Steve Goodman and covered by lots of folks. The first version I heard was Arlo Guthrie's.

15. See the marketplace in old Algiers
Send me photographs and souveniers

That's "You Belong to Me", but I can't for the life of me remember who originally did it. It was before my time, and I'm old. *g*

My version was bought off itunes, unfortunately -- I can try and copy it to cd and get it that way later in the week, though.

Extra points if you know who's singing.

You know, my mp3 of "You Belong to Me" actually doesn't even list the singer, so I have no clue who it is.

You win a monkey!

#7 - Crap, I don't know what song it's part of. But it's Caiaphas (or Annas, can never remember) to Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar. Annas, I think.

#2 is Ani, "Untouchable Face". Perhaps not entirely fair since iTunes just played it for me this morning?

Once upon a time, I had versions by Steve Goodman and Arlo Guthrie, but I know other people have covered it.

#8 is TOTALLY Rasputin by Boney M (OMG SO EIGHTIES!), #5 is a Sufjan Stevens song (don't remember which one but I love that line) and #9 is Right Red Ankle by the Decemberists, and some of the others are familiar but I can't guess them!

2 is Ani's "Untouchable Face"
7 is "Blood Money" from JCS! *woo! Go Judas go!*
10 is..."Native Son," maybe John Denver?
15 is..."take good care of yourself, you belong to me!" by lots of people I imagine, also Patsy Cline

Is #1 "You're not from Texas" by Lyle Lovett?

I keep hearing #12 to the tune of "Piano Man", but I know that's not right...
