The reading for Medieval Lit & Gender for next week is selected pieces from The Golden Legend. I am slightly taken aback by its total awesomeness.

I'm 90% sure I'm going to sign up to take the intensive Latin course during summer quarter. An entire year's worth of a difficult inflected dead language in ten weeks, WOOT. I'll probably complain about it frequently, but I'm really looking forward to it; there's nothing I love more than studying languages, really, when you come down to it. Plus, it will bring my "awesome old Indo-European languages" obsession up to three, between Old English this year, Latin in the summer, and Old Church Slavonic in the fall. YAY. (Next I just need to go to a grad school where I can learn ancient Greek and Hittite and Gothic and Sanskrit and Old Persian, right? RIGHT.)

[Note: I still really, really covet this shirt. Or at least the mug.]

Last night when I drifting off to sleep, I suddenly realized: EIGHT MONTHS FROM NOW I WILL BE LIVING IN BOSTON. Omigod. And really, eight months is a while, but it's not that long of a time. I do a little dance in anticipation and nerves in advance. BOSTON!

I thought I had something fandom-related to add to this entry, but I seem to be mistaken. My download of last night's Supernatural is going annoyingly slow, but I do have that to look forward to this evening. MMMMM DEAN.

Wait a second. I must be behind the times. What do you mean you're going to be living in Boston in eight months? That's awesome, but why? Transfer to a university there? Grad school? Job?

Great city. And if you really wanted, you could marry a girl.

*grins* I should be getting my B.A. in December (knock on wood). I'm applying to grad school in the city to start in September 2007, and until then I'm hoping to work and get some more experience (and hopefully savings).

I KNOW. The buttons and stickers are almost even better, because they have all the names of lots and lots of dead languages in the background, too. But they are not tshirts.

Oh say! If you ever feel the need to get a headstart on the Latin, I get lend you the first half of my book. It split in half and I don't really ever use the first half, so you're welcome to borrow it and language geek out.

I'll even answer questions, as I have a pretty firm grasp on everything it contains. Though I doubt you'll struggle with the concepts, being as you are a language geek.
