I got home to my apartment on Saturday evening, but my internet hasn't been working -- woe! The modem is broken, I guess, so I have to go and find the Clearwire office in town and see if I can get them to fix it. Normally in this situation, my wireless would come in to save me, but I guess maybe whoever was leaving unsecured networks around has moved out for the summer. Thankfully, the free campus wifi comes to my rescue, at least partly; I'm in the cafe in the business school building, which is right beside where my medieval romance class meets. So I can at least come here and check my email and give lj at least a cursory glance every day while I'm mostly internetless at home.

My apartment feels very lonely without my hundreds of imaginary internet companions, I have to say. I have kept myself occupied this weekend with lots of reading (I liked Pretties much better than the first in the series), playing Sims 2, and starting a marathon rewatch of the first two seasons of Arrested Development.

In other news, this weekend it was in the high 90s. Today it's supposed to be 98. This is the pacific northwest! I DISAPPROVE.

I was talking to one of our brokers in Oregon today, and she was saying it was in the triple digits, and she was very upset about it. She told me all about it, at length.

...My whole state isn't a bunch of whiners. Most of the time.

No, no, dude, I feel for you! When I lived in Arizona, I got used to the heat, but the humidity always makes things miserable, no matter where you are. And it's been in the 80s-90s here this week, and our A/C has been out, so pretty much anyone who talks to me has gotten an earful of my overheating woes, so I don't blame you (or her). Part of the reason I have always wanted to move to the PacNorth is because I have zero tolerance for high temps or snow... and now that's all apparently going out the window! :(

It depends where you move in the PacNW! Move to the Oregon Coast and you will have no problem with heat. That is where I grew up and now I am in the valley and DYING. I am built for no more than 75 degrees. It says so on the stamp on my ass.

But seriously, Oregon Coast-- Rarely gets over 100 degrees. Rarely, in fact, over 90. And it's a dry heat! No drowning in air, our water knows it's place is falling, not hanging around.

And it snows like one inch every two years.

Erm. *cough* *hands you brochure* *waves little Oregon Coast flag* *does not use Geoduck icon*
