It's still so hot outside I feel sick and half-dead. Ugh. And nobody's on AIM to entertain me. Stupid day.

(One hundred and four degrees. In OREGON. Die, weather, die.)

Very vague thoughts on my sudden Cass love: Part of the reason I find Cassandra Cain so fascinating, I think, is the obvious contradictions she holds. The parts that are almost entirely innocent, versus the parts that aren't at all. The ways in which she's very young, versus the ways where she's incredibly experienced, older than she should be.

Another part, I think, is how everything she does, she does completely, with focus and this sense of ... purity, I guess.

And then part of it is just -- she's so cool, and interesting, and pretty, and complicated, and and and and! Yes. I resort now to fake hearts. <3<3<3.

*nods* Totally that. I think one of the reasons why chatty-cathy!Cass as written by some pros misses for me is that they can't seem to let her use words *and* keep her innocence, for lack of a better/more complete word. Whereas, well... she doesn't *really* have much (if anything) left to lose, in some ways.

She could very well be *just* that innocent-and-yet-too-old for the rest of her life.

Mmm, yes. It's really easy to go too far one way or another, I think, or even just make her "really good fighting girl" without any of the nuances. (I don't know what to do with her appearance I just read in one of the Birds of Prey issues, for example, where her dialogue sounds like just some-random-Batfamily-member was needed f or the plot, and they chose her for no particular reason, without taking her character stuff into account, you know?)

*laughs* You toss it right out the window, is what you do. You take what makes sense and run with it, and you ignore the fuck out of what doesn't. Which is why, even though I 'ship Tim/Cass, I ignore that little moment where Tim, inexplicably and out-of-character-ly, gets all het up just because Cass lands on him.

Aw, I kind of like that bit where she's in Babs's original costume, because it reminds me of him being all stalkery of the Batfamily for those ten years, you know?

Te's right--you have to ignore what makes no sense in terms of her character (and TIm's) and just go with the parts that work.
