--I am rewatching Batman Begins for the first time since it was in theaters, and the thing about Michael Caine as Alfred is that everytime I hear his voice I start expecting a whole Mary Poppins Dick Van Dyke chimney sweep dance.

Also, Katie Holmes's character is ... really boring.

Christian Bale always makes me think first, of Little Women, and second, of gay sex. Fun combination!

I could listen to Liam Neeson's voice for a really long time and not care at all about what he's saying.

The guy who plays Thomas Wayne creeps me the hell out.

Gary Oldman as Gordon = <3.

Other stuff:

This morning my favorite pair of flip-flops break. Unfortunately, this was on the way to class, which meant I had to hobble all the way to math and all the way home again afterwards. Ow.

I'm pretty sure I got an A on the math test, though. Yays.

!!!!!

Isn't it funny how our cultural contexts influence how we experience texts? I understand how you could have that response, but, you know, Caine SOUNDS like a Londoner, whereas Dick Van Dyke sounds like a fucking idiot who has never met a Londoner, been to London or heard any recordings of Cockney accents.

Seriously. I cannot express how comedically risible and infamous the Dick Van Dyke accent is. It's not quite Mickey-Rooney-pretending-to-be-Japanese- in-'Breakfast-at-Tiffany's', but my God, it's close.

That aside, though - yeah, Batman Begins rocks. (And hey LOOK, Mr Van Dyke - this is what real actors do! They fucking learn the foreign accent!!! Take a bow Messrs Oldman, Bale and Neeson!)

Um. Sorry. Issues.

Yeah, Katie was a bit dull, wasn't she? I didn't hate her, but I didn't love her to the extent that I did most of the blokes.

Go you with the Math, btw!

Obviously, the lesson here is that care MUST be taken not to expose innocent children to horrible accents in their early childhood, becasue they will NEVER be rid of it.
