This comes up occasionally during RPF discussions, and it's sort of interesting on its own, too -- the question of the connection or disconnection between writing pornography about fictional characters and the actual physical bodies of the actors who portray them.
Which is to say: when I write a fic about Ray Kowalski giving Benton Fraser a long, slow, loving blowjob, obviously to some degree I'm relying to the visual images of Callum Keith Rennie's mouth and hands and Paul Gross's body. Except at the same time -- Paul Gross's body isn't synonymous with Benton Fraser's body. When I'm writing porn about Fraser, the way his body looks, feels and responds isn't the way Paul Gross would; it's the character I'm writing, who is idealized from the character on screen, who is *not* Paul Gross, but just played by him.
Or -- well, Ray Kowalski, Billy Talent and Duck MacDonald all have a tattoo of the Champion logo on their right biceps. But that doesn't mean that's the same tattoo, because it has a different meaning and history for each of them, right?
All of which boils down to, I guess, the fact that I still think Fraser has a bigger cock than PG does.
