Here's a 2004 Daniel MacIvor interview about Wilby Wonderful I hadn't read before. There's a tiny bit of talking about Camp Wilby (not anything new, but I just always enjoy confirmation of it) and a nice question and answer about CKR, along with the stuff all Canadian filmmakers love to talk about, which is how much the Canadian film scene sucks.

Callum Keith Rennie usually plays sort of a psycho or creep

See, it's not just us!

Thanks for the pointer - this was a lovely read.

See, I am lucky, because I have, solely by accident, tailored my formative CKR watching to his less-goony roles. RayK, Newbie, Duck, Craig from Last Night, random dude in crappy Lifetime sex show, etc. I've managed to avoid most of the creepy!

Thank you for this! Very interesting! The reporter obviously hasn't seen enough of Callum's work. Because the "how did you get him to play against type" question is so dumb. For heaven's sake, was Ray "against type"? He's played many gentle, good-guy roles, and they represent some of his best work. I can tell you exactly when I started to take an interest in all his work, not just DS, and when I fell, I fell HARD.

It was last year, when I watched "The Ladies Man" for only the second time. When he burst into tears in the car, I got chills...I was so impressed by his performance that I immediately started to go look for other stuff he had done. Wilby was a delightful find.

I also loved what MacIvor said about Nicole Kidman and "Hollywood actors." Hee! Because he's so right. They can't act!

Oooh, I love this for reasons that don't necessarily need exploring at this juncture. Mostly the stuff about Canada being a collection of small towns and small towns within big cities...I love that.

Thank you for linking it!
