Fraser: It was a small tattoo. The stars and stripes. Located approximately 4 centimeters below the left ear. I remember quite distinctly. And judging by the sharpness of the color, our man either avoided the sun or the tattoo was relatively new. Now if we can just match up the style of the tattoo with the artist.

Vecchio: Fraser, a tattoo is a tattoo. It doesn't take a Michelangelo to doodle old glory on somebody's neck.

Fraser: On the contrary Ray. A tattoo is a very individual thing. You don't hand it over to just anybody. You have to have faith in a vision and the integrity of the artist.

Vecchio: The artist?

Fraser: Yes.

Vecchio: You call this art?

Fraser: Very much so. And you know something? It's exactly that kind of assumption that has contributed to the commercialization of this ancient from in recent years.

Heart. Vecchio thinks tattoos are lame, and Frannie thinks they're disgusting ("Well, you're not deformed or anything, really. I don't know. It really depends. I mean, did you show her your disgusting tattoo or how far you could spit or, you know, that charming thing where you kick holes through the ceiling tiles?"). But Fraser -- man, you know Fraser likes Ray Kowalski's tattoo just as much as we do. I don't think he would begin with thinking it was hot -- just, you know, meaningful and an important part of his personality -- but the rest of it would come in time.

Mmmmm, Fraser and Ray in bed, Ray on his back and Fraser holding himself carefully up above him, licking the outlines of his ink...

(CKR has really lovely upper arms, doesn't he? Sigh.)

Right now I am about an hour outside of Portland, right on the light rail public transportation line to downtown. But I am going back down to Eugene on either Wednesday or Thursday, but I do not know which yet.

(You're going to go to Powell's, right? Right?)

hee! I have no idea what I'll be doing from now until Wednesday or Thursday (see: Plans, my family's inability to have fixed), but if I find myself free or desperately needing escape from the family, I may will give you an email? mmmmmyes.

(and I'm totally planning to go to Powell's! That has been my happy place ever since the first time my parents shipped me out to my grandparents for Spring Break - they took me to Powell's, where I fell in love as thoroughly and adorably as Fraser and Ray fell in love with each other, although with less kissing and no submarines. Just - it is the mother of all bookstores, and I'm sure I don't have to explain to you the many ways in which I LOVE IT TO BITS.

possibly my family will want to, you know, hang out with each other? but I don't even CARE. if they won't drive me, I will steal my aunt's car and ECHOLOCATE my way to BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS.)
