6/1/07 19:10That is all I have to say about that for the moment. I am sure I will have much more to say as the end of March grows closer.
I am copying from
Favorite lines:
Already Confessed: His hands were already curling up into fists -- he'd never really hit Pop, not really, not done anything worse than learning how to duck, how to keep from taking a hit. But that was when Pop was focusing on Ray; he'd never done more than just scream at the girls, and if that was changing now -- Frannie was only twelve, for Christ's sake, Ray wasn't going to stand by and let that happen--
Good Idea At the Time: "Hi, Stella," Ray says. His voice is hoarse and scratchy, as if he's been spending his time talking too much -- although Stella knows he was doing nothing of the kind.
Cabin Fever: Still, the truth remained that his methods of initiating romantic contact could often leave much to be desired.
The Universe is Shaped Exactly Like the Earth: And, whoosh, just like that, there it goes, Fraser's face goes totally blank the way it always does, every single time Ray talks about his marriage. Caring and compassionate and no sign of what he's really thinking at all. "Ah," he says.
Seven Secrets: The first few times, neither of them say a word; he can't think of a thing to say. He doesn't know if she has anything to say to him -- but she's not cursing at him, or spitting at him, or refusing to see him, so perhaps, he thinks, there is more there than hate.
Sting So Terribly: And when he escapes you have no choices left, no way left to save him, and you take out your rifle, run your hands slowly over it, resisting what you need to do. And when you see him-- and you ready your shot-- and if no deus ex machina falls from the skies to rescue you both, you know you will pull the trigger.
A Goose Pimple or a Scar: "Bisexual, Ray," Fraser clarifies. "I've found myself attracted both men and women." Bank robbers, hockey players, fellow cub scouts, best friends. The human heart has neither rhyme nor reason.
Only Congealed Snow: Joe leaned over and kissed him hard on the forehead. Joe's kisses always felt a lot like his punches.
Gonna Be Face-to-Face: Joe isn't looking at him anymore, but he's not looking away from him either. Billy feels breathless and weirdly light in his chest. "Faggot," he says, and he almost gets it out without laughing.
"Fuck you," Joe says, snorting, and he pushes Billy off the edge of the bed.
Initiative: Robin opens his eyes and *grins* at her. "Batman knows everything. Haven't you noticed by now?" He looks serious for a moment -- as serious as the Boy Wonder seems to get, at least, which isn't very. "He hasn't told me to stop," Robin says, raising his chin up, "and I ... wouldn't listen if he did."
Act out the parts: She rises up to meet him. His mouth is warm. It tastes like tea. His other hand grabs onto her arm, high up, close to where he shot her. Where he sewed her up again.
Queen of Quiet: "Well, yes, thank you, Captain Obvious," Rodney said, his voice muffled as he pulled his shirt down over his head. He bent over to the floor to pick up his shoes, still speaking. "Of course I'm tense. Do you have any idea how stressful it is to be the genius in charge of keeping this entire place from metaphorically plummeting to destruction every day?"
Teyla made a small, thoughtful noise as Rodney sat again on the edge of the bed. "Your tension cannot be useful. Do you not find your responsibilities easier to bear with a calm mind?"
Rodney snorted. "Are you kidding me?"
Brief Quiet Moment: She had wanted to kill him, wanted to be the one who shot him herself, but of course she couldn't. There were so many things Elizabeth had wanted to do over the past few years, and she hadn't done any of them. Not doing those impossible things -- that was half of what being a leader meant. She wasn't just herself, ever; she was the commander of this mission, and the mission came first.
That's something, oddly enough, that she thought Rodney had always understood. Oddly, because Rodney was perhaps the most self-obsessed person she had ever met; he was often selfish, frequently petty, and certainly arrogant.
Now and Then: You can tell he doesn't like getting his picture taken; he's stiff, a little awkward looking, waiting for Duck to finish. But he's smiling, too, just a little. As if when he's not paying attention the corners of his mouth default to up now, instead of down.
I'm also interested in the people who have been doing polling about the "sexiest moment" question. Of course, looking back at this list, I don't seem to actually have written much porn this year at all -- the majority of these have maybe a kiss. If you have an opinion, though, go ahead and tell me; I'm interested!
