Dear livejournal,

Today I am running the experiment for my sociolinguistics project, and I need several volunteers in order to conduct it and get all my data to write up. If any of you felt like participating, I would be very grateful!

Here is what I need:

+ 1 woman in her 30s, preferably from a middle class background. I would ask you to write a paragraph or so on a topic I will give you. Found, thank you!

+ 8-10 women in their 20s. I would give you several small pieces of text to read, and then ask you a question about your opinion of the authors. All set!

If you feel like pitching in for either of these things, go ahead and comment to this post, and I will email you later today with your exact instruction. Neither of these tasks should take longer than ten minutes or so.

Thanks, Livejournal!

love,
Pearl-o

I'm 31, from a middle class (though not a white-collar class) background (child of an electrician and an English teacher.) I'm also linguistically trained, though, so if you need someone with uncorrupted intuitions, I'm probably not your girl *g*.

I don't *think* your linguistic knowledge would negatively affect this, but I think it would be easier if I went with someone closer to the middle of their thirties, for what I'm looking for. Thank you, though!

*grins* You are just too much of a unique snowflake for this experiment! You would confound all my variables.

I'm 30, and from an upper-ish middle-class background (*generations* of lawyers...).

I think it would be easier if I went to someone in their mid-thirties, rather than at the edges either way. Thank you very much, though!

I'm 29, middle class on my mother's side and working class on my father's! I'm also UK, though, if that might cause trouble.

I'm in my twenties, working-class background but currently lower-middle-class. I should warn you, though, that I'm going to be working from two to six, so if you need it by a certain time you probably don't want me. If you do, though, I'm twinkledru at mistsandmellow dot net!

I am twenty-two and love long walks on the beach and being a mindless drone in people's excel spreadsheets, if you still need people. (winged_child_hiding at yahoo.co.uk) (I'm Canadian; the UK e-mail is an anomaly.)
