So by the time I was halfway through season 2 of The Offine, I was sort of thinking "Wow, this is a pretty awesome show, and yet I find it strangely unsatisfying." But then I realized it had been a couple of days and I couldn't stop watching it and now I am totally caught up all the way to the latest episde of season 3. So. Um? The Office! Pretty cool!

My favorite part so far is still the beginning tag of "Take Your Daughter to Work Day" when Dwight and Jim both call out "That's Batman" at the same time. ("What about Aquaman? Where does he live?" "...The ocean." "I work with a bunch of nerds.")

Basically all the pranks (faxes from future Dwight!) are pretty awesome. And I'm pretty amazed by how all the creepy weird stuff can suddenly become totally unexpectedly sweet -- Dwight and Angela, Dwight and Pam, Michael and Pam, all these little moments.

--And I was about to say Roy actually seemed like a really nice guy, but then the last five minutes of 3x18 happened. Heh.

Okay, seriously, could Pam be any more likable? Is it possible for anyone to watch this show and not Mary Sue yourself into her place? She's smart and funny and cute and sweet! It's ridiculous, it really is.

Finally, my mental image of Rainn Wilson is no longer as an undertaker-to-be nuzzling a sixty old woman like a horse. Instead, it is ... a really creepy guy carrying around dead things and staring at people. Awesome.

(Are there any ridiculous vampire AUs following "Business School"? It feels like there should be.)

Oooooooffice! God I love that show. Be careful, though, or else you'll find yourself going to a book reading by BJ Novak's dad [coughmyplanstonightcough].

And as I believe [livejournal.com profile] moireach said during the beginning of season 3, the thing that's awesome about Pam is that her victories are exactly the kind of victories that happen in your actual life. Asking for the bartender to give you the beer you asked for, etc, is the kind of shit that makes you feel all proud of yourself, and so to see it on TV makes you feel less silly for getting happy over tiny things like the office olympics or making your boyfriend do boyfriend things with you.

Yes, totally! Her little victories make me so happy. And just the her-and-Jim dynamic, when it is being "Goofy Friends with Inside Jokes and Secret Code" and not "Pining Starcrossed Lovers" is, like, the sort of friendship we all think we have with our best folks, you know?

Woohoo! Hee, I love that "That's Batman" exchange - both because Jim really is a huge nerd and occasionally the show loses sight of that, and also because he and Dwight are more OTP than he would like to admit.

I honestly still can't believe how well the show pulls off ridiculous things like Dwight/Angela (and Michael/Jan, and EVERYTHING). But God, I'm still really annoyed about the last five minutes of 3x18, and not only because if I'm forced to read one more Roy-hits-Pam or Roy-hits-Jim fic I'm going to shoot someone in the face. DO NOT END LIKE THAT RIGHT BEFORE A SIX WEEK HIATUS YOU GUYS THINK OF THE CHILDREN. Or at least the people who do the fandom newsletter.

Okay, seriously, could Pam be any more likable?

I KNOW RIGHT. And yet there is so much Pam bashing. Which makes me angrier than like everything in the universe, possibly in a way that is unhealthy. Heh.

(There is actually a Pam the Vampire Slayer crossover out there, but Jim isn't a vampire! Which is a little outrageous. Hee.)

Jim and Dwight are like two sides of the same coin. THEY CANNOT SURVIVE WITHOUT THE OTHER.

I'm still kind of weirded out by Michael/Jan, actually, just because, I don't know, I'm not feeling that much sympathy for Jan. I mean, you can date Michael and have him be your boyfriend OR you can be mortified and embarrassed and creeped out by him all the time, but playing it both ways just seems like being nasty for the sake of being nasty.

Would the person you shoot in the face be Jim? BECAUSE THAT WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM RIGHT THERE.

I ... how on earth does Pam bashing exist? What is there to bash about her? She's so ...

Pam. Seriously!

Jim wanted Dwight to transfer to Stamford with him! He knows he needs him!

Hee, yeah, I can see that on Michael/Jan, but Jan is still one of my favorite characters, I don't know. I have a problem.

Augh, I knooooooooow, people hate women? Or something. There was a lot of fic at the beginning of this season that had Pam having to APOLOGIZE TO JIM and grovel at his feet and all this crap, because she didn't call him when she called off the wedding.. Apparently people were angry season 3 had dawned without Pam being married to Jim and pregnant with his child? Ugh, I don't know. The whole thing still makes me feel vaguely ill to think about.

I ... what? WHAT? Dude, I love Jim to death, but he is kind of a dick. That's the whole point, kind of! That's why he seems like a real guy. Heh.

::sticks out tongue::

Maybe if OTHER PEOPLE talked about the show more, I wouldn't have to hang out at TWOP so much! And god, they were all being so good and actually agreeing with me... and then someone was like "but I want to read as much Roy-hits-Jim fic as possible!!!" and then they were all off in the opposite direction. It's like herding cats, I swear.

Hee, I am busy! Fandom is exhausting!

Herding retarded cats, for reals.

(Speaking of TWoP, now that NBC owns them - uh, how is that going to work for Office fic? I feel very weird about it, especially since the fanfic thread is, like, the second most popular thread in that forum.)

*rolls eyes* Oh, man, that is my whole thing about TWOP being bought -- it wouldn't be a big deal if people were not retarded, you know? But people think of TWOP as a fan place, and not as a "Hey, this is owned by the Man" place, and they're going to keep acting like a fan place instead of a corporate place.

I know, right? And honestly, the people on the fic thread at TWoP were literally unaware that fanfiction is illegal until I informed them of it this summer (haha, one of many reasons they hate me). So odds of them acting like non-retards about this are slim, and my fic's been linked all over the place in there, and aaaaaaaaugh.

Wow, if Michael Scott hadn't ruined the joke for me forever, there is totally something I would be saying to that.

Also, whatever, like you need your incest to be CANONICAL relations. We all remember Connor/Dawn.

Yay! This show just sucks you in so well. And I loved the whole nerds scene. Too cute! I absolutely adore Pam. Everyone goes on and on about Jim but right now I love Pam way more than him. I heart her so much. It's so great to see her realistically growing as a person.

Eee! Is mostly what I have to say. But also, my love for Pam is obviously that of a thousand burning hot suns, so I'm glad you love her too. Also, do check out the Pam the Vampire Slayer (http://mtt.just-once.net/fanfiction/viewstory.php?sid=1127) story, and then go check out [livejournal.com profile] moireach's delicious (http://del.icio.us/kyrafic) for Office recs, because, uh, most of the fandom is stuck in a clone of the X-Files fandom circa 1998. We have had to have multiple discussions about slash. And RPF. And using betas.
