Here is an important question, and I am only five years behind the times in asking it: oh my GOD, is Jess SUPPOSED to be so absolutely incredibly repellent? Because UGH Rory what is WRONG with you NO NO NO.

(My sister has been watching Gilmore Girls repeats on ABC Family, and I have been watching some of the episodes with her. We're at the beginning of season 3. Man, if I had seen this before Heroes had come out, I probably would have disliked Peter Petrelli even more at the beginning of the season.)

Also in sister+media news, I made her watching three episodes of Doctor Who yesterday -- her first ever -- and succeeded in making her weep like a baby at Doomsday. Awwwww. Later today, Runaway Bride and Alias Smith and Jones. Yay!

YES. I have missed my share of GG episodes, so I don't really feel qualified to judge absolutely, but every time I've seen Jess, I've wanted to slap him in the face. And that affected my feelings for Peter for a long time, too. Just... stop SCOWLING. And CUT YOUR DAMN HAIR. YOUR LIFE IS NOT THAT HARD. You know?

Especially when his competition is tall, sweet Sammy Jared Padalecki. WTF, Rory?

There is nothing to like about him! At all! I just! GRAR!

I disliked Peter at the beginning of Heroes, but by the end of the season I was really loving him. But, like I said, without the Gilmore Girls backgorund I didn't have negative Milo thoughts coming in.

He's not supposed to be. He's supposed to be intellectual bad boy but he is truly immature, selfish dick. Oh Jess, how I hated you.

The last few episodes my sister and I have been groaning and yelling at the screen every time he comes on. I feel as though he should have *some* redeeming quality, but I have yet to find it.

I had the worst time getting into 'Heroes' because I had such bad associations with MV. He has no redeeming qualities. Have you gotten to the episode where he goes to Rory's grandparents for Friday Night Dinner? That one is the worst.

We're not that far yet, no, but just knowing that is in the future makes me cringe. Heh.

I hope it was intentional, because that was quite the error if not. When rewatching the series, though, I was surprised to find him less repellent than Dean, which doesn't actually redeem him at all. But if it was intentional, why plan to give him his own spinoff?

(it seems a lot of us are having to resort to friendsfriends for entertainment this afternoon.)

Friendsfriends is a godsend on the really boring days!

I actually really like Dean so far! I'm not sure if it's just liking Supernatural, but he's cute and seems sweet and nice enough.

I liked him the first time through, but the second time I noticed that he's all about the passive-aggressive patriarchial bullshit. Which added him to the long list of reasons I'm not watching Supernatural.

(Sadly, for me lately all days are boring, so I check a filtered version of friendsfriends (just the people I trust to only have extra-fabulous friends) as often as my own flist. Oh, life. Whither art thou? And why has thou forsaken me?)

god, seriously. i only started watching it last year, and i hate him so much! flames on the side of my face! and it drives me CRAZY because everyone seems to think he is so fantastic.

of course, everyone loves logan too. personally, i think "the other love interest is kind of dull" is not a good enough reason to fangirl utter assholes.

ahem. not that i have strong opinions on that or anything.

BREATHS! HEAVING BREATHS!

Actually, it's not like my hate for him approaches my hate for characters like McDreamy or Nate on SFU, because it's mixed with utter confusion. Just ... why? WHY?

Aww I like him. The big thing he has going for him is the intellectual connection as the bad boy thing doesn't do it for me. I just think Rory needed a guy who had the sweet honor of Dean and the intellectual stimulation of Jess. But I never really cared who Rory dated so it wasn't a big thing for me. Jess just needed to grow up a lot which thankfully he does later on in the show (much later on for a few episodes). Dean bored me a bit more, Jess annoyed me a bit more (except Dean in his *traditional* episode) but in the end I thought they were both good learning experiences for Rory.

I really liked Jess, but I was mostly alone in that. I liked that he was up to Rory's weight intellectually. He turns out well in the end, loses some of the sullen teen boy attitude.

My disinterest in Dean turned to outright dislike when he got married even though he was still in love with Rory, and I kind of held that against Jared Padalecki for a while.

No, he's not meant to be repellant, but yes, HE IS.

It took half of Heroes before I could stand Peter because I loathed Jess Mariano SO VERY VERY MUCH. He is hateful and selfish. But we are supposed to find this attractive, I think. Pouting and brooding and all that. Instead I think it's repellant.

Repellent is really the ONLY WORD to describe it.

I maintain that the only male love interest for Rory who wasn't repellent was Logan, and he was the one who was supposed to be. Surely, this says something about Amy Sherman-Palladino et. al. and their conceptions of male attractiveness. Needy, broody, manipulative and useless? Apparently this is what we are all looking for in a man.

It is a testament to the Heroes showrunners and Milo Ventimiglia's development as an actor that Peter has become one of my favorite characters on Heroes.

*wrinkles nose* Alas. (I haven't gotten to Logan yet, so I shall have to wait a while yet before sharing my opinion there...)
