schmerica: (bitchy catholic schoolgirl gerard!)

So I was talking to [livejournal.com profile] shoemaster just now and I mentioned the fact that I was still totally stunned by the fact that I'm kind of squicked by even hints of Waycest in stories. Just because it is unexpected: incestfic has never been a line of mine, even in RPF, and sometimes it's even a favorite, like with Simon/River or Frannie/RayV.

But from there we got to THIS, which I think will probably make some of my dS girls (especially my angst team!) wonder if I've been kidnapped by pod people:

[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: it's just something about these two characters that makes me wanna cover my eyes.
[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: I think it is maybe the fact that I just want fluffy bunnies in this fandom?
[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: I want NICE THINGS to happen to Gerard!

[livejournal.com profile] shoemaster: oh good

[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: ...I mean, I loved Fraser even more than I love Gerard, but I still liked horrible things to happen to him.

[livejournal.com profile] shoemaster: I was thinking last night? "Oh god, I want Pearl to join me in my otp love (or at least have a fond affection for it!) but I don't want her to KILL THEM."

[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: ahahahahaha.
[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: SHARING MY OTP IS A MIXED BLESSING.

[livejournal.com profile] shoemaster: YES IT IS

[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: no, but.
[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: Gerard: I want happy bunnies and fluffy kittens forever and ever amen.
[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: UNICORNS.
[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: AND TALKING PUPPIES.

Have I mentioned that I'm REALLY GLAD you don't want to torture my boys the way you did Fraser and Ray?

I had a similar conversation the other day about my strong aversion to hurt/comfort fic if the hurt is a) not something already in known canon or b) more severe than a papercut.

Like, I can totally get behind Gerard hitting bottom and recovery fic or Bob nearly died in a fire stories or poor sick Frankie or best buy related Pete fic. Because ok, it happened, we're writing fic about them, we might as well deal with the realities that we know about.

But at the same time... THAT SHIT HAPPENED! WHY WOULD I WANT TO INVENT MORE TRAUMA FOR THEM? They've gone through enough crap, I don't feel the need to put them through more pain and torment in my stories. I want them to be happy, and maybe turn into the opposite gender or toddlers or puppies... or find leprauchauns and elves or realize that there's a portal to narnia in Bob's bunk...

NO MORE HURTING FOR THEM!!!

Heeeee. It's weird, this lack of interest I have in any sort of angst or darkness. I'm okay with h/c sometimes, but yeah. FLUFFY GOODNESS FOR ALL.

It took me a minute to figure out what fandom you were talking about, so I was thinking Gerard from Due South, and I was VERY CONFUSED. Also, why is Frannie/RayV SO GREAT?

I'm actually commenting because I saw [livejournal.com profile] joandark using an icon you made of Fraser with his little telescope and it says "NOSY" and I want it DESPERATELY. And she said I should ask you if it was cool to take (with credit of course). If you'd rather not share that one I totally understand!

Hi there! As far as my thoughts on icons go, once Joan claimed it, it's hers to do whatever she wants with -- so if she's okay with sharing it, I have no problem either. Have fun!
