cidercupcakes wanted me to tell her more about my bandom OTPs -- not because she is interested in bandom, but just because Jules and I love to share our squee because it is pretty much the funnest thing ever. Since she was just squeeing to me about Bruce Springsteen/Patti Scialfa, I decided to start off with my Canon Het OMG This Is Really Happening (Also They Are From New Jersey) OTP of Love. Aka: Gerard Way and Lyn-Z.

None of this is new to anybody in bandom, but you know. It's always nice to look at the pictures again.

This is Gerard Way. He is the lead singer of My Chemical Romance. Turn-offs: his depression, his history of addiction, violence, mean people. Turn-ons: comic books, coffee, New Jersey, challenging heteronormativity, saving lives.







This is Lyn-Z. She is the bassist for Mindless Self Indulgence. I have to admit I know very little about her band, besides their similar politics in terms of homophobia, sexism, racism, etc, etc. Like Gerard, she is an art school graduate from New Jersey. She is also very bendy and superhot.







Gerard had been engaged to another chick earlier in the year, but it broke off earlier in the summer; he and Lyn-Z's marriage kind of came totally out of nowhere at the beginning of September. All of which sounds bad and kind of celebrity crazy? Except for how incredibly fucking happy he is, and how awesome his wife is, and how adorable they are together. And, dude, this is a fandom with a pretty strong boyslash OTP involving Gerard, and we're all in love with them anyway.

Dude, all the spaces of the fandom I've been have been really supportive of ALL the MCR girlfriends/wives. It's awesome! I'm sure the grosser edges of the fandom have a lot of hate, but all the areas I've seen are all "Awww, look how crazy retarded in love Frank is with his fiance (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y159/pearlo/frankjamia.jpg)!" or "Mikey and his hot wife and their cat are kind of ridiculously darling (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y159/pearlo/mikeyalicia5.jpg)!"

And yeah, you are definitely still allowed to love those two without listening to the music. You cannot resist, and you shouldn't try.

THAT IS SO GREAT OMG! :D There is kind of a really disturbing undertone of Patti-hate among much of the online E-Street fanbase. This is why I am honestly kind of grateful that there isn't much of a fandom; all the backstreets.com Patti-haters would fail it up. Which is sad, because she is hot and awesome and he is clearly completely in love with her.

And I will totally take recommendations on the music! I don't know if I like it until I listen, after all.
