Hi, you guys! I just wrote the first 500 words of a totally self-indulgent story about my Completely Random and Totally Unlikely Het Crossover RPF OTP. It's awesome. It occurs to me that not all of you immigrated into bandom from due South and other such climes, so it's worthwhile for me to do a picspam at this juncture, so you will have some clue where we're coming from.

This is Ellen Page.

You may have heard of her! She has a new movie coming out, Juno, that's getting a ton of positive buzz.

I first heard of her through due South fandom -- which has a tendency to become a general "Canadian actors" fandom, what with everybody's having worked together. Ellen was in Wilby Wonderful, which starred Paul Gross, Callum Keith Rennie, and Sandra Oh. Most of us were pretty distracted through the movie by CKR basically playing a queer angel, but when we could drag ourselves away enough to notice? Ellen Page was really good.

Probably what she is best known for right now is the indie film Hard Candy. This is possibly the most disturbing, hard-to-watch, traumatic movie I have ever seen, but I'm still glad I watched it, even if I never will again. Because seriously, this girl? Is a fucking amazing actress.

She was also in X3, as Kitty, which is definitely her biggest profile role to date. She talks about that as being a good experience, but partly because it allows her to take lots of the quirky interesting small movies that she really loves.

She's picky about her roles, too, because the average teenage girl role in the movies isn't interesting to her. Teenage girls aren't all paper dolls; they can be intelligent and complicated.

She also speaks openly about her feminism in interviews.

She's really smart. She's quirky. She's her own person. She's interesting.

I kind of want to be her best friend, to tell you the truth.

Also, to be honest, she's really pretty.

And sometimes she looks like Ryan Ross.

Apparently once in a while she even steals his wardrobe.

So, yes. Ellen Page! Made of win! LOVE HER.

15/12/07 06:51 (UTC)(also, um, hi. I friended you a million years ago, and think you're cool, but these days I seem to only poke my head back into fandom every couple of weeks when I'm procrastinating on something life-y. I also can't figure out which of your stories it was that caused me to friend you, since I seem to be into *all* of your fandoms. But whichever ones it was, obviously I really liked them.)

15/12/07 17:07 (UTC)I keep thinking about how Ellen smoking up for the first time with Sandra Oh at Camp Wilby is canon in my head, but I don't think it will fit into the story.

21/12/07 00:41 (UTC)ELLEN WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?
15/4/09 13:57 (UTC)If this is the sort of thing I'm missing out on, maybe I should start paying more attention to the ongoings happening outside my head!
As if her looks weren't enough to win me over (which, let's face it, they totally were), that interview scan you showed definitely sealed the deal. HOW SO AWESOME, ELLEN PAGE?
She's totally my female celebrity crush now (...well, one of them, anyway. But, the top one!). I almost want to revert back to my 12 year old self and stick pictures of her on my wall while gushing to all and sundry about how perfect she is.
Now I'm going to go read your story featuring her. And then scour the internet hoping there are more, because clearly what the world needs more of is lots of bandom fic starring Ellen Page.
