schmerica: (frank needs a hug)

You know, I know there are people who really really despise Bob/Frank as a pairing, I do! It's just that for some reason, it's not something that I can keep in my memory for more than a few days at a time? So every single time the idea suddenly becomes really obvious, I am shocked as if it is the first time. IT'S BOB AND FRANK. HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE BOB/FRANK? *FLAILYHANDS OF DOOM*

(The weird thing I am usually the type of person who is really easygoing about pairing hate. I mean, even when it's a pairing I like myself, I understand how it can be irritating or gross or whatever. I totally have things that make irrational antipathy arise in me, too! It's just this one pairing that flips the switch in my mind that makes me react like you just killed a puppy. Which is especially hilarious when I'm doing it while reading communities that only exist to, you know, be snarky and controversial. Uh, I'm a dork.)

If there was an All About Eve bandom AU, I think Gerard would have to be Margo Channing (GOD, Gerard as Bette Davis, it's so beautiful!) but who would be Eve Harrington? For some reason I'm leaning towards Ryan Ross, but I'm not sure.

I get pairing antipathy on a general level, I do. I mean Mulder/Krycek still creeps me out all these years later, but Bob/Frank?

That reminds me I need to post a poll taking votes on what the pairing should be for my [livejournal.com profile] bandombigbang secret!baby for Bob story.

I don't understand Bob/Frank, but I don't hate it. I just find it squicky in the bad siblingcest kind of way.

Which is illogical, I am aware. It's just the kind of teasing, pokey-affectionate relationship they have. Also my conviction that Bob Bryar is the straightest man alive.

*shrug*

I am very much not about pairing hate, in general.

I stay so far away from pairing drama that I live in another WORLD, but i really don't get how you hate on Bob/Frank. They're made of, like, pranks and built up tolerance and kind of ridiculous amounts of love and silliness and ... they're ADORABLE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND.

Ahahaha, I totally am. It made me go like this: DDDDDDDDDDDD:

I AM TOTALLY IRRATIONAL ON THIS SUBJECT. It is bizarre, because it's not even my favorite pairing, you know? Yet apparently I am emotional investment ahoy!

I understand that some people's OTPs are strong enough that they don't like or can't read any pairings that break them up, but ... I mean, there are a half-dozen intra-MCR pairings that do the same thing, so.

Ahahahahaha. That is beautifully hilarious, coming from you. <3

I realize not everybody can like the same things I like. But it would make things so much easier if they did!

But it's so cute! With the Chihuahua and the Labrador! CUTE.

....... strangely, that picture made me WANT to write Frank/Bob, instead of deterring me. So, there's that. *g*

I know it's funny coming from me! But, like. They totally have this long suffering Bob, Frank who takes flying leaps at him kind of relationship and it makes me go ":|" when people slash them because... I'm weird?

TBW are way more egalitarian about their codependency, and that's what appeals to me, I suspect. In my head Frank and Bob should be partners in crime and Bob should get things from tall shelves for Frank because otherwise Frank has to climb on the counters and then he jumps on Bob's head. It's a thing.

(I would love it if everyone liked the same things I liked! Then I would never have to read another artificially enlarged age gap Frank/Gerard story! If you want to read about some creepy older dude taking advantage of a younger, more vulnerable guy, we already have a band for that. It is called Fall Out Boy.)

I know someone - I am not even making this up - who cannot slash Bob Bryar. At all, with anyone.

I manage to forget this every time I talk to her, because. WHAT?

Dude, the age gap between Frank/Gerard and Pete/Patrick are actually almost exactly the same, you know. It's like 4yrs/6months versus 4yrs/10months.

I KNOOOOWWWWWWW. BOB/FRANK.
MY OTHER OTP OF MY HEARRRTTTT.

There is no part of Bob/Frank that isn't awesome, I feel. Sigh. It bewilders me, the hate it seems to garner.

Oddly I have no Bob/Frank icon, but I have a Ray/Frank, which is equally awesome. And gets even less love.

I was actually talking about Pete and Ryan, for the hardcore creepy age gap. Pete has an established pattern of hanging out with/consorting with teenagers of varying age gaps.

That said, the difference between 20/24 and 17/21 is huge, even if the age gap itself is practically the same. We have no evidence that Gerard hung out with teenagers even when he was one, but Pete can and has had to do with people who are way, way younger than him before, both in romantic and professional capacities.

I wasn't trying to slag off Pete/Patrick, more I was trying to push the crazies towards Pete, who actually has the capacity to be creepy in that way.

I still don't understand Bob/Frank haterade. I just don't. Like. What? It's one thing if someone just doesn't prefer a pairing, but active hate, man, what is UP with that?

Moreover, I don't understand this thing where people think Bob is super straight, because I don't know -- with his love for t.A.T.u., Christina Aguilera, cute cats, and secretly wanting to be in the gayest band in the world before they made his dream come true, I'd say Bob Bryar is as big a gaymo as the rest of them.

Yeah, but every time I see a story where Gerard is a 30+ "aging artist" type (and seriously, are they 15? 30 is not aging) and Frank is a vulnerable teenager, a little piece of my soul diiiies.

I get that that is a well established kink, but omg, please, get it away from my fandom. *hides them away*

Man, I'm as devoted to my OTP in bandom as I have been to any OTP ever, and I'm still sadfacing at the thought of hating on Frank/Bob.

But then I don't get pairing hate, as opposed to simply stating that x pairing is not for you, and leaving those who enjoy it to...enjoy it.
