You know, I know there are people who really really despise Bob/Frank as a pairing, I do! It's just that for some reason, it's not something that I can keep in my memory for more than a few days at a time? So every single time the idea suddenly becomes really obvious, I am shocked as if it is the first time. IT'S BOB AND FRANK. HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE BOB/FRANK? *FLAILYHANDS OF DOOM*

(The weird thing I am usually the type of person who is really easygoing about pairing hate. I mean, even when it's a pairing I like myself, I understand how it can be irritating or gross or whatever. I totally have things that make irrational antipathy arise in me, too! It's just this one pairing that flips the switch in my mind that makes me react like you just killed a puppy. Which is especially hilarious when I'm doing it while reading communities that only exist to, you know, be snarky and controversial. Uh, I'm a dork.)

If there was an All About Eve bandom AU, I think Gerard would have to be Margo Channing (GOD, Gerard as Bette Davis, it's so beautiful!) but who would be Eve Harrington? For some reason I'm leaning towards Ryan Ross, but I'm not sure.

I get pairing antipathy on a general level, I do. I mean Mulder/Krycek still creeps me out all these years later, but Bob/Frank?

That reminds me I need to post a poll taking votes on what the pairing should be for my [livejournal.com profile] bandombigbang secret!baby for Bob story.

I don't understand Bob/Frank, but I don't hate it. I just find it squicky in the bad siblingcest kind of way.

Which is illogical, I am aware. It's just the kind of teasing, pokey-affectionate relationship they have. Also my conviction that Bob Bryar is the straightest man alive.

*shrug*

I am very much not about pairing hate, in general.

I stay so far away from pairing drama that I live in another WORLD, but i really don't get how you hate on Bob/Frank. They're made of, like, pranks and built up tolerance and kind of ridiculous amounts of love and silliness and ... they're ADORABLE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND.

I understand that some people's OTPs are strong enough that they don't like or can't read any pairings that break them up, but ... I mean, there are a half-dozen intra-MCR pairings that do the same thing, so.

There is no part of Bob/Frank that isn't awesome, I feel. Sigh. It bewilders me, the hate it seems to garner.

Oddly I have no Bob/Frank icon, but I have a Ray/Frank, which is equally awesome. And gets even less love.

I still don't understand Bob/Frank haterade. I just don't. Like. What? It's one thing if someone just doesn't prefer a pairing, but active hate, man, what is UP with that?

Moreover, I don't understand this thing where people think Bob is super straight, because I don't know -- with his love for t.A.T.u., Christina Aguilera, cute cats, and secretly wanting to be in the gayest band in the world before they made his dream come true, I'd say Bob Bryar is as big a gaymo as the rest of them.

Man, I'm as devoted to my OTP in bandom as I have been to any OTP ever, and I'm still sadfacing at the thought of hating on Frank/Bob.

But then I don't get pairing hate, as opposed to simply stating that x pairing is not for you, and leaving those who enjoy it to...enjoy it.

hey, i'm the first to admit i find ryan ross to be one unsexy dude and i rarely read fic where he's the primary character. but i don't hate on people who read him because one person's unsexy is another person's lust object. plus, there's more than enough fic for everyone.

that being said, bob and frank! c'mon, people, they're like chocolate and peanut butter - two great tastes that taste great together.

Oh, pairing hate, whatever. See, I'm a ridiculous person who only ever reads her OTPs because OMG NOOO YOU CAN'T BREAK THEM UP, but, dude, if someone is into different pairings, MORE POWER TO THEM. Like, I don't get the impulse to actively hate on what other people love just because you disagree. Let's just play nicely in the sandbox, y'all, no need to break someone else's shovel because it's blue and you prefer red.

I don't get this Bob/Frank hate. Why is the world like this? *imploring look of shared pain*

Anyway, I might not dig someone else's pairing, but you don't find me bewailing its existence (except internally to wonder where's the Bob or Ray love, people?!). Bandom can be sorta annoying with its tendency to do that, taking any pairing but someone's OTP and generating hate/rantiness/anonymemes. Didn't some people do that with the non-Ryan/Brendon pairings, too? Get all annoying, I mean? I pretty much sucessfully avoid all that intensely shippy behavior because people who are annoyed with my multifandom, multipairing recs tend to filter me out/not friend.

I tried to come up with some sort of interesting &/or insightful response to your post, but all I really can't get much further from my initial thoughts which went somewhere along the lines of: There are people who hate Bob/Frank? But, but...how can that beeee? I mean, it's Frank! And Bob! Together, apart - ALWAYS AWESOME.

Heh. Hey, I have my favorites (Frankie! FrankieFrankieFRANK) and OTPs (Frank/Gerard for starters) and OT3s (legion) too. I totally do. But. Well, I guess I'm too much of a fandom whore open minded (yeah, that's it) to let that limit me. And OK, there are a few (rare) pairings that don't work for me. So...I don't read them. But I don't *hate* them or anything. How silly is that? A waste of time that could be better spent trolling the net for fic.

I can understand the pairing hate thing -- I do have one pairing that totally does make me irrationally angry when I think about, which is inconvenient when it's as freakishly popular as this one is. So I have n high ground, but it still makes me sad.

I get preferring one pairing over another, but I don't get hating a pairing to the extent where you go on and on about it and wish nobody would write it. Why put so much effort into hating? Jeez. I mean, have they never heard of the scroll button? Then again, I don't do OTPs and will pretty much read any pairing if it's by an author I like, so...
