most depressing kidfic ever?

Here, livejournal, I want to share some thoughts with you that I was talking about with people earlier:

I just thought about Bert/Gerard getting pregnant pre-break-up and it made me wanna cry.

They would be all cuddly and excited when Gee first gets knocked up! And while everyone else in the world is like "oh, this is not good" they're like "STFU! Baby! Yay!"

And then they break up before the baby is even born and Gee doesn't even want to let Bert see it -- it's Gee's baby, not his, Bert doesn't have anything to do with it except forgetting a condom.

It's so saaaaaaaaad. Because on the one hand, he is the dad and Gee is kind of a bitch to keep his kid away from him, but on the other hand, Bert's still drinking a lot/doing drugs/saying bad things about Gee in public so it's not like he's making a good argument for why she's wrong.

IDK [if Gee would eventually let the kid see Bert]! I can't really figure out what it would take to change Gee's mind, and meanwhile they would probably keep resenting each other more, right? Gee is overprotective. The kid has her! And her band! It doesn't need bad influences.

(Also I am not sure why this became girl!Gerard instead of mpreg, but whatever.)

So, wow, there is no way I would ever write this story both because a) I don't know what would happen next and b) it would make me too sad (and, ugh, the stuff about Bert's ex-girlfriend overdosing while she was pregnant with his kid makes it even worse), but jeez. I can't stop thinking about it. My poor darlings! I don't even know when I became a tragic Bert/Gerard shipper, but I totally did.

I guess at least in the future when I think about them, I'll be able to go "yes, it is sad, but at least they didn't bring a BABY into it!" So there's an upside! Um.

I was about to say, I would totally read this fic. Because see, in my head, the rest of the band is still on good enough terms with The Used, and they know that Bert's getting better about his drug use. And several years have passed since the breakup. Bert no longer talks shit about MCR or Gee, and Gee doesn't really think much about that time in her life anymore, or tries not to. But one day Bert's talking to Bob or someone and mentions that he'd really like to see his kid, so Bob goes up to Gee and tells her about that and Gee finally agrees to let her kid meet its father.

i want it too. i can even picture it in my head. like--gee giving up smoking! everyone in the band giving up smoking! brian getting between gee and bert when bert tries to manhandle her! the abortion discussion! gee realizing, "i kind of want it. like, is that weird? imagine how talented it will be between me and bert!" (matt's nasty, "imagine what a junkie it will be.")

and bert meeting mrs way years later, kind of nervous, too sober, and mrs way doing the italian head-grab for the cheek kiss, and then a smack upside the head, "how dare you call my daughter a slut!"

"ma," says gee, "that was years ago."

"and i was so wrong," says bert fervently, still seeing stars.

"what's a slut?" asks two year old sparkly darling precious unicorn way.

Interestingly, I was also thinking about something similar yesterday, but it was Frank/Gerard instead, and not half as angsty. Still. I want this. Like burning. Even though it's Bert/Gerard and I'm totally possessive of my OTPs. *sigh*

God, I haven't written anything postable in a long time, but damn, no one gives me bunnies like you do. Since I started reading your journal I've gotten so many ideas, like actual inspiration and shit, it's a frickin' miracle I tell you.

I really want to write this story, just so I can read it and see what happens, but damn. I have no idea if I could even come close to doing it justice.

I want this so much, except I kind of want it to go to a place where Gee and Lyn-Z get a civil union during Project Rev. and then Gee can't stop talking about them as a family. In every interview it's 'my wife' and 'our daughter' and Bert wants to hit stuff, and tear the magazine to little bits. But it's Lyn who persuades Gee that Bert has been doing better, has a respectable fiancee and Gee needs to let their daughter meet her father. Gee is not convinced but she trusts Lynn. It's not an easy truce and Gee wants to kill Bert when little Helen comes back from a supervised visit with her dad having learned to spit. But Lyn thinks it's awesome and sets up a spitting contest in their backyard.

As awesome as this sounds, I don't know if I could ever read it because...it would be soooo sad! :( There would be so much angst, depression, anger, and OMG the angst!! :( This fic should definitely have a happy ending, somewhere in the future where they have all their problems solved and would finally both think it would be good for their kid to see his/her(?) father. Btw. what would you say, would the kid be a boy or a girl? I think that's an interesting question *nods*
