I've seen it now and I've got a question. The wikipedia entry says that Carter goes to the dance with Ed. However, it seems to me that all the girls on the bus went together - ie no male dates - and that Carter and Rosie went together. In the dvd I saw Carter doesn't dance with Ed, he admires her from behind his camera for rejecting Donnie and dancing with the first year boys. Am I right?

Disney doesn't really mean to make lesbian love stories for teens, do they?

I would never interpret anything in that movie as Carter and Ed being together. Also, them going to the dance together doesn't make sense, because it's at the dance that she finally gets over Donny. It would have been really, really easy for Disney to add in some Carter/Ed at the end, and it was kind of what I expected, but I didn't see any at all.

I really don't think it was their intention, but you can't argue with the product.
