Hey, fanfiction writers! Haven't you ever sat around, reading story after story, and thought to yourself, "These are good and all... but what they could *really* use are some zombies."

We thought so.

We'd like to present the Brain-Eating Good Challenge. Multi-fandom, any pairing or rating -- the only requirement is that the story features zombies in a central role.

Lex and Clark deal with meteor zombies. Harry and Draco don't need to worry about their relationship; they're more worried about why Ron is still walking after being beheaded. Seven years ago, Buffy Summers came to Sunnydale with a purpose: to find more brains to devour.

Use your imagination -- zombies go with everything!

The deadline is June 21st, 2003. You can leave a link in the comments to this entry, or this one in [livejournal.com profile] fox1013's livejournal, or send the story in an email to zombies@innergeekdom.net.

Zombies on Everwood... that wasn't a coma, that was the first stage of zombie infection!

Oh dear.

Dude, I seriously said this just last week: "These are good and all...but what they could *really* use are some zombies."

Of course I was talking about icons. But, really, zombies make everything better.

We did! We did! We were talking about "Hollywood AD." And what saved it from being a paramasturbatory piece of televised fanfiction was the ZOMBIES. Also we probably wanted zombies in the Cowfic. Heeeey, zombies in the cowfic. Oh, you know what else it was was "Millennium." And some zombies. Did I have that conversation with you, or was it [livejournal.com profile] melybrosia? Anyway, zombies. We were probably making zombie squares.

"That icon's funny, but what it really needs is zombies."

I've said once, and I'll say it again: you can never go wrong with zombies. They're like garlic! You can always add more!

I was going to add "...except less stinky" to the end of that, but then I realized that zombies were, in fact, fairly stinky.

I love you, too.

Does that mean you're not going to write for us?

Ummmmmm...I dunno. I don't think my fandoms lend themselves well to zombies, really, except Anita Blake, and there are plenty of canonical zombies there. Er.

<perks up>

The good zombies skitter and dance. "Did you see that lady? Would that lady marry me? I don't know! Oh what a pretty lady! Would that lady marry me? I don't know!"

Um (http://216.239.39.100/search?q=cache:PyNpVH3D7vYC:www.p2c2e.org/zombies.html). It's funny if you're a Barthelme nut....

Ah, zombies. Excellent.

Last summer, my mother told me that she'd seen a Discovery Channel documentary on zombies, and went on to tell me some of the things the documentary had discussed, including, of course, brains.

I, of course, channelled my not-so-inner Buffy geek and said, "Zombies don't eat brains anyway unless instructed to by their zombie masters. A lot of people get that wrong."

And Mom replied, "I *know*!" in a can-you-believe-how-silly-people-are? kind of voice.

Mom rules.

Ahem. My challenge response is now up: Big Damn Zombies, Sir (http://www.livejournal.com/users/shrift/9513.html).

The fandom is Firefly. The rating is PG-13 for language and things gross and creepifying.

Summary: "He eats all their brains / And he gnaws on their bones / Was never too bright / Now he's dead as the stones / Our love for this idea's not hard to explain / Who could resist him, the zombie called Jayne!"

Brrraaaaiiiiiiinnnnsss... go on and eat some!
