Betas without internet access couldn't stop us! A week from hell and lack of sleep couldn't stop us! Complete lack of sanity or good sense couldn't stop us! Not even evil lj tags could stop us!

In other words: [livejournal.com profile] nifra_idril and I have finished our story. It's called You & I Are ____, and it's RayK/Fraser, about 7500 words, NC-17. You can read it in Nif's lj here or at my website here.

That was just so, so, god, I don't know. So loving. So sad. So much longing between the two of them. There was a lot of sweetness and the ache between them just got to me. In the best possible way. Unable to move forward, unable to move back. Afraid to voice what they're feeling in case it changes the status quo, because while this might not be the best way, going back or breaking up is out of the question.

Then poor Ray, not being able to cope with the current situation. Ray wanting more, and terrified that by asking Fraser will shut down on him. Ray the Nester. Wanting a home, wanting a solution and wanting Fraser...all the time.

Angst alert. This needs an angst alert.

Thank you for your comments! I'm glad the story worked for you so well.

(And thank you for the note; we'll make sure and fix that.)

*wail* So very good in a "don't read this is you're feeling lost" sort of way. Wonderful writing.

This was just breathtakingly wonderful.

Also? Painful and bittersweet at best, yes -- but in the way that life *is*, far too often.

(Of course I'm half waiting for the part where Ray realizes that just because Fraser doesn't know any other way doesn't mean there isn't one, and then somehow it leads into the Cassie series. Right? RIGHT???)

::smooches you both for the stunningly beautiful story::

...And when Ray goes up to Canada in November, he brings all his stuff, and when Fraser looks at him funny he says, "I just - I can't do it anymore, Frase." And Fraser looks at him and looks at him and rubs a thumb across his eyebrow and answers, "Well then don't."

And they bring all the stuff in the cabin and fuck right there in the doorway, and the day when Ray is supposed to fly back to Chicago, they toss his flight ticket in the fire and fuck right there on the floor, the ashes from the paper of the ticket swirling all around the air of the cabin.

AND HE STAYS THERE FOREVER AND EVER - RIGHT????

Eh hem. Sorry.

This was absolutely wonderful and hot and touching and really, really sad, but I loved every single word of it. Great stuff, you two.

*smooches and glomps you both*

Yeah, what Estrella said. All of it, the happy ending and that the story was wonderful, but oh, so sad. I loved it too.

*smooches and glomps back*

You know, when we started writing, I was completely convinced there was going to be a happy ending somewhere down the line. And then we were halfway through and we stopped to actually talk about it, and. Well. There wasn't anyway else I could *see* it going.

*snugs you again, and your epilogue*

I am not reading it. Because, you know, I have no idea who the characters are, and also I am boring.

But I do think it's worth mentioning that presence of sanity and good sense has never once, in all the time I've known either of you (which with you is ALMOST THREE YEARS, young lady), been an influence in your daily life.

*smiles brightly at you both*

Yay for finishing! You both deserve cookies.

gar, i hate you and your evil friend!!

it was so true and sad and real that (like estrella) i was totally expecting the moment where ray's remembers that fraser's not always right, and he says 'fuck it!' and goes to canada 4EVAH to be with fraser and dief and the snow and the ice.

::grumble:: this is stuck in my head now, and i have to conciously Not Think About It or i will be all depressed on this grey and drizzly day.

*grins* I'm going to take the awful hating in the most complimentary sense possible, okay? I'm sorry for the depressing, but on the other hand, I'm so glad the story worked so well for you.

I am dead from how this was beautiful and real and it hurt too much.

I read it late last night, and woke up this morning worrying about it: "But can't they meet in the middle or something? God!"

Fraser let his hand fall, and his face got even tighter, and he said, "I don’t know how else it can be.”

Well, think of something, already! You're supposed to be so smart!

*loves it*

oooh, porn

*snicker*

As I told Nifra, any story whose second word is "fucked" is all right by me. This is lovely and hot and porny and I can't think of enough good things to say about. Except wah! In my head there's an epilogue where they eventually get it together and Ray goes to live in Canda with Fraser and they're all Canadian shack-y.

In the meantime, Dief expresses my opinion of Fraser v.well.*g*

If it makes you feel better, I have the hopeful "But they should fix it some day!" feeling, too. It just wasn't in the story for me and Nif to write. *sniff*
