[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: this scares me a little.

[livejournal.com profile] fox1013: ...Huh.

[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: And you know, okay, kind of gross but going with it, I guess
[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: until you get to the sauce
[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: which is a stick of butter and a pound of powdered sugar.

[livejournal.com profile] fox1013: heeeee

[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: And booze.
[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: That is not a sauce.
[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: That is not food.

[livejournal.com profile] fox1013: *dies giggling*

...I'm still not sure exactly what that is. But when I say this entire thing scares me a little, well. By "a little" I mean "what the hell?" Just to be clear.

OMG! They should put a little counter at the bottom of the recipe to keep track of related fatalities.

It's not a sauce, it's more like frosting. I mean, my recipe for homemade chocolate frosting is margarine, drinking chocolate and powdered sugar.

Mmm, yes, that is food. I have a yummy cranberry pudding recipe made even yummier by the fact that it's topped with warm hard sauce: butter, sugar, cream, and vanilla. In fact, I'll bet the sauce in that recipe would be improved with extra cream...

I think I had a heart attack from just reading the recipe. Dear lord, the clogged arteries alone!

My mom and I watch Paula Deen religiously, and we laughed our asses off while she was making that on the show a few months ago. I mean, besides being Your Future Heart Attack In A 9x13 Baking Dish, it doesn't even sound good-tasting. If I'm going to clog my arteries, I want to at least enjoy it.

Dude, that's it exactly. I mean, I'm all for butter and sugar and Krispy Kremes, and condensed milk makes pumpkin pie taste good, but ... wow. This recipe does not sound like anything I'd want to taste.

Er. What does it say about me that I'm more disturbed by the Krispy Kreme part of the recipe than the rum part?

I think it's the fact that Krispy Kreme donuts are (a) already the perfect balance of sugar and fat, which means they will (b) already send you into insulin shock if you eat more than one.

See, frosting is on the thin line between food and not-food for me. But once you take out any milk or vanilla or any sort of flavors *and* heat until it's warm and bubbly *and* call it a sauce -- it's just. My mouth hurts thinks about it.

Whereas I am still kind of stuck on the condensed milk and fruit cocktail part.

A Krispie Kreme: Just enough flour to hold the sugar and fat and together.
