if only in my dreams
7/1/05 19:40Last night I had a dream that someone on my friends list (whom I've met, but don't know very well at all) had become, like, my academic advisor/mentor/cheerleader/helper-person, and the whole dream was about us working really hard to get me into grad school in one of the programs with joint History and Library Science MAs. My parents kept asking me where I knew the person from, too, and I had to do the same thing I do in real life -- "Um. Online." or "Um. I know them through So-and-So-Person-Who's-Also-a-Slasher-But-You-Recognize" or "Um. I met them at that convention I went to last year?"
All the programs I was applying to in the dream were ones I was looking at online last night, too, and drooling over (though I'm pretty much not qualified for them, given my academic record at this point). So it raises the question of whether I am doing *that* too much, or if I'm reading my friends list too much, or if my brain just likes to mess with my head and mix the two.
Really, I don't mind dreaming about slashers, and I don't mind dreaming about school, but the mixture weirds me out. Although this one was still much better then the ones where I realize my new professor is someone I know personally from fandom.
