I agree. I remember that from high school, too. That, and the kids who were raised by conservatives of the affluent economic persuasion, who were (it seemed) more all about whatever kept their taxes low than anything else.
The only thing that makes me feel anything other than horrified about this is remembering what *I* was like in high school, and how much I vacillated from one strong opinion to another, very different, but equally strong opinion for quite a while. I've changed and grown up a lot since then, and I hope these kids will too.
