schmerica: (wilby wonderful)

Near the end of the director's commentary on Wilby Wonderful, Daniel MacIvor comments that when Dan accidentally hangs himself, the dangling feet we see don't actually belong to Jim Allodi -- because Allodi was too tall, and his feet would actually just have reached the floor.

It occurs to me that this would be a somewhat amusing (albeit completely pointless) topic for an AU. Heh.

Yeah, but in the Wilby Wonderful case -- if he landed on his feet, wouldn't he just be able to, you know, remove it?

Yeah, if he were able to stand on his toes, or flat footed, he would be, since he wasn't, you know, tied at the hands.

Which, considering the theme of the rest of his attempts, would make sense.

*laughs* There was just one of those historical show dramatic reinactments and it stuck in my head of this guy's toes just barely touching the ground and him twitch and struggling to not hang and. It was very traumatizing for being educational television.

I think that actually may be the primary goal of most educators.

To be fair, I think it's often inadvertant.
