In between finals I've been rewatching Firefly all the way through. I don't know if you all know this? But OMG SUCH A GOOD SHOW.

So far I've gotten from the unaired pilot all the way through "Out of Gas"; "Ariel" is up next. My notes so far:

+ "Safe" continues to be the most glorious hetcest in the whole entire world.

+ Mal/Saffron is crazy hot in their scenes together in "Our Mrs. Reynolds."

+ Mal/Serenity OTP!!!!

+ Inara is always crazy hot, but I don't think ever more so than in the flash back in "Out of Gas" to her first meeting Mal. With the veil, and the short shirt, and the pants? Yes.

+ The way they keep going on in the commentaries about "ooh, in this scene there is a huge hint for SOMETHING WE CAN'T TELL YOU, hahahahahaha!" is kind of really annoying.

+ I still don't understand why River is afraid of guns and easily apprehended in the unaired pilot.

+ Everyone on this show is really, really pretty.

I don't have to mention that I haven't seen the movie, right? Since it doesn't come out for four months and there would be no reason on Earth to spoil me? Okay.

My friends-of list has just hit 400, which is exciting, because hey! Big round number! I love big round numbers! I feel like I should do something special for the occasion -- any ideas?

"Safe" -- yes. Um. The promise of that scene was how I finally got my roommate to make the time to watch the series. "No, seriously, you don't understand. It is all sorts of fucked up. There's like, this one episode with, like, berries and stuff. Just watch it already!" And last night she did, and she Understands It All. *g*

Mal/Saffron -- OMG, yes. It is a crying shame that those two never had crazy hot sex with tons of oneupmanship and insulting and gah.

Those commentary things are insanely annoying. Especially the one in "Out of Gas" for Inara. Grrrrr. It's not nice to taunt the monkeys at the zoo, and all.

Something special -- write Mal/Saffron? *g* That would be very special indeed.

It's like, I sat down to watch the show and was like "oh, Firefly. This has crazy space incest, which I like" and then I actually watched and it was like "OMG SIMON RIVER LOVE LOVE LOVE HEART!!!" I hadn't forgotten that I loved the pairing, but I had forgotten just how strong I felt about it.

Safe. Oh. The "Simon kneeling down in front of River while she feeds him berries" is definitely the best, but there's all sorts of awesome stuff in that episode. Them as babies in the very beginning! Simon being super protective! Simon giving everything in the world up for her in the flashbacks! Simon watching her dance! Putting his arms around her and preparing for them to burn to a crisp together! I am ded of love.

Mmmmmm. The only thing that would be hotter than that would be if Inara was in on it, too.

I'm doing the same re-watch of Firefly, and agree with all of this (Inara, for some reason, just doesn't do it for me, but I totally agree with you re: her outfit in Out of Gas). And also? I don't WANT to see Serenity before it comes out everywhere, b/c then we can squee out loud all TOGETHER and it will be FUN and I'm not at all wildly jealous of everyone who's already seen it. Honest. Really.

I'm actually kind of weirdly reluctant to write Firefly fic right now, just because the fact that so many people have seen the movie now means I'd be writing on a different level of canon than a significant amount of my audience, you know?

Although if you wrote more Firefly, too, I might be tempted.

It's just incredible. It's so about the sheer love between those two -- a love that (almost literally, in this ep) is going to burn them to ash.

I continue to boggle at the fact that that pilot went unaired. WTF? I love this show with a white-hot passion, but I doubt very much I'd've stuck with it on prime-time TV if it'd been aired as it was.

You know, I actually downloaded and watched "The Train Job" when it first aired, and was really, really bored by it, and didn't bother keeping up with the show. And then the January after it got cancelled, I gave it another try, and this time I fell for it completely.
